Abstract

This study aims to determine and explain the effect of using the Instagram reels feature on student self-existence. In this research, the type used is a quantitative approach, the type of research is explanatory type, with the survey method, and the paradigm used is the positivism paradigm. In this study using the uses and gratification theory. The variables in this study consisted of using the Instagram reels feature as the independent variable and self-existence as the dependent variable. Questionnaires (questionnaires) were used to collect data in this study. Selection of respondents using purposive sampling technique and obtained as many as 51 respondents. The data analysis used is simple linear regression analysis. The coefficient of determination is 0.906 which means that 90.6% of the variance of self-existence is influenced by the variance of using the Instagram reels feature. The results of the study can be concluded that the independent variable, namely the use of the Instagram reels feature, has a significant positive influence on the self-existence of the 2018 regular 2018 regular class of Mercu Buana University Fikom Faculty of Communication Sciences students. Keywords: Use of Instagram Reels Feature, Self Existence, uses and gratification theory, Quantitative Research Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan pengaruh penggunaan fitur reels instagram terhadap eksistensi diri mahasiswa. Dalam penelitian ini jenis yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif, tipe penelitian adalah tipe eksplanatif, dengan metode survey, dan paradigma yang digunakan adalah paradigma positivisme. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan Teori uses and gratification. Variabel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari penggunaan fitur reels instagram sebagai variabel bebas dan eksistensi diri sebagai variabel terikat. Angket (kuesioner) digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data pada penelitian ini. Pemilihan responden menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan didapatkan sebanyak 51 responden. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi linier sederhana. Nilai koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,906 yang memiliki arti bahwa 90,6% variansi eksistensi diri dipengaruhi oleh variansi penggunaan fitur reels instagram. Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa variabel bebas yaitu penggunaan fitur reels instagram memberi pengaruh positif yang signifikan pada eksistensi diri mahasiswa Fikom Universitas Mercu Buana angkatan 2018 reguler 2.
