Abstract
A documentary film is a non-fiction film that retells a reality based on facts carried out in real locations with narrative support. From making this documentary film, the author can find out the stages and processes in making a documentary film. Editing is a post-production activity carried out after the production process. Editing is carried out after all material made during production is owned by the editor. The editor combines one image with another image so that it becomes a complete story line. Each image will represent the researcher to convey a message to the audience. The final assignment is the application of the documentary film "Scratches Realis Sang Maestro" which is a work that tells the story of Mahdi Abdullah, a famous painter from Aceh, Indonesia. The message conveyed in this documentary is that the work he created contains stories and deep meaning regarding history, experience and social criticism. Based on the research and film-making process carried out, it can be concluded that: (1) A documentary film is a work based on a true story that was recorded authentically. (2) Looking for information from various sources in the editing process. (3) Teamwork is key in filmmaking. (4) Careful planning is very important in facilitating production. Kata Kunci : Documentary, Painter, Biography, Editor Film dokumenter adalah film non-fiksi yang menceritakan kembali sebuah realitas berdasarkan fakta yang dilakukan pada lokasi sesungguhnya dengan dukungan narasi. Dari pembuatan film dokumenter ini penulis bisa mengetahui tahapan dan proses dalam pembuatan film dokumenter. Editing adalah sebuah kegiatan pasca produksi yang dilakukan setelah proses produksi. Editing dilakukan setelah seluruh material yang dilakukan saat produksi telah dimiliki oleh editor. Editor menyatukan gambar satu dengan gambar yang lain sehingga menjadi sebuah alur cerita yang utuh. Setiap gambar akan mewakili peneliti untuk menyampaikan pesan kepada penonton. Tugas akhir aplikatif film dokumenter “Goresan Realis Sang Maestro” merupakan sebuah karya yang menceritakan Mahdi Abdullah seorang pelukis terkenal asal Aceh, Indonesia. Pesan yang disampaikan dalam film dokumenter ini adalah terhadap karya yang diciptakannya mengandung cerita dan makna mendalam terhadap sejarah, pengalaman, dan kritik sosial. Berdasarkan penelitian dan proses pembuatan film yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Film dokumenter merupakan sebuah karya berdasarkan kisah nyata yang direkam secara otentik. (2) Mencari informasi dari berbagai sumber dalam proses editing. (3) Kerjasama tim adalah kunci dalam pembuatan film. (4) Perancanaan yang matang sangat penting dalam memudahkan produksi.
