Abstract

Iphonesia is one of the many mobile photography communities in Indonesia. Mobile Photography means taking pictures using a cellphone (camera). The rise of the mobile photography phenomenon is inseparable from the increasingly capable camera technology on cellphones, breaking down one's barriers to being able to cultivate the world of photography which previously was something exclusive because the tools used were quite expensive. Currently, only with a cellphone, someone can get into the world of photography. This research is interesting to do because it examines the motives of mobile photography activists who are members of the @iphonesia mobile photography community in the city of Jakarta. The motives for mobile photography activists who are members of the @iphonesia community will be revealed in this study. The purpose of this research is to reveal and find out the motives of mobile photography doer who are members of the @iphonesia community in the city of Jakarta. This study uses a constructivism paradigm with a case study method with a qualitative approach to phenomenological studies. The research subjects in this study were six people who are members of the @iphonesia community. Data collection techniques used through in-depth interviews and direct observation. The results of this study indicate that the motives behind joining the @iphonesia community are divided into three, namely the motive for getting knowledge (informative), the motive for making friends (social integration), and the motive for entertainment. The role of the @iphonesia community as a mobile photography community is to actively carry out activities, and connect with other mobile photography doer. The awareness of someone who is part of the @iphonesia community is divided into three, members who are joined to feel closeness, awareness of benefits, and also as self-development. Keywords: Motive, Community, Mobile Photography Iphonesia adalah salah satu dari sekian banyak komunitas mobile photography yang ada di Indonesia. Mobile Photography berarti memotret menggunakan (kamera) ponsel. Maraknya fenomena mobile photography tidak terlepas dari tehnologi kamera pada ponsel yang semakin mumpuni, meruntuhkan batasan seseorang untuk bisa menggeluti dunia fotografi yang sebelumnya merupakan sesuatu yang eksklusif karena alat yang digunakan cukup mahal. Saat ini hanya dengan bermodalkan ponsel seseorang sudah bisa untuk menggeluti dunia fotografi. Penelitian ini menarik untuk dilakukan karena mengkaji tentang motif pegiat mobile photography yang tergabung dalam komunitas mobile photography @iphonesia di kota Jakarta. Motif pegiat mobile photography yang tergabung di komunitas @iphonesia ini akan diungkap pada penelitian ini. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengungkap dan mengetahui motif pegiat mobile photography yang tergabung dalam komunitas @iphonesia di kota Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma konstruktivisme dengan metode studi kasus dengan pendekatan kualitatif studi fenomenologi. Subjek penelitian dalam penelitian ini adalah enam orang yang tergabung dalam komunitas @iphonesia. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan melalui wawancara mendalam dan observasi langsung. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa motif yang melatarbelakangi untuk bergabung pada komunitas @iphonesia terbagi menjadi tiga yaitu motif mendapatkan ilmu (informatif), motif mendapatkan teman (integrasi sosial), dan motif hiburan. Peran komunitas @iphonesia sebagai komunitas mobile photography yakni aktif melakukan kegiatan, dan menghubungkan dengan pegiat mobile photography lainnya. Kesadaran dari seseorang yang tergabung di komunitas @iphonesia terbagi menjadi tiga, yakni anggota yang tergabung merasakan adanya kedekatan, kesadaran adanya benefit, dan juga sebagai pengembangan diri.
