Abstract

Public relations has the main function for an organization that is as an organizer of good relations with the public as well as formulating and implementing work programs to get a positive image so that it gets the benefit and trust of the community. Circulation of issues related to organizations that are negative makes the image of community organizations worse in the eyes of the community because they are considered destructive, disobedient to government and anarchism. The theory used in this study is the theory of 4 PR functions formulated by Onong Uchjana Efendy, which explains what PR functions must be carried out in an organization to find out how to establish a good relationship to manage the image so that it is considered a positive image for the organization itself in public eye. Researchers use qualitative methodologies with qualitative descriptive methods. Data obtained using in-depth interviews with key informants from officials and members of the PEKAT IB mass organization. The focus of research is on how the public relations function is implemented in managing the image of community organizations. Based on the results of research and analysis conducted, it can be concluded that what has been done by the PEKAT IB mass organization has been in line with the public relations function written by Onong Uchjana Effendy, and the PEKAT IB mass organization has managed to manage the image of the organization into a positive image in the public. Keywords: Public Relations Function, Community Organizations, Image Management Public relations memiliki fungsi utama bagi suatu organisasi yaitu sebagai penyelenggara hubungan baik dengan publiknya serta merumuskan dan melaksanakan program kerja untuk mendapatkan citra yang positif sehingga mendapat yaitu keuntungan dan kepercayaan masyarakat. Beredarnya isu-siu terkait ormas yang bersifat negative membuat citra organisasi masyarakat menjadi buruk di pandangan masyarakat karena dianggap merusak, tidak patuh akan pemerintah dan anarkisme. Teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah teori 4 fungsi PR yang dirumuskan oleh Onong Uchjana Efendy yang menjelaskan apa saja fungsi yang PR yang harus dijalankan dalam sebuah organisasi guna mengetahui bagaimana menjalin hubungan yang baik untuk mengelola citra sehingga dipandang citra yang positif bagi organisasi itu sendiri di mata publik. Peneliti menggunakan metodologi kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan teknik wawancara mendalam terhadap key informan dari petinggi dan anggota ormas PEKAT IB. Fokus penelitian ada pada bagaimana implementasi fungsi public relations dalam mengelola citra organisasi masyarakat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dan analisis yang dilakukan maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa apa yang telah dilakukan oleh ormas PEKAT IB telah sejalan dengan fungsi public relations yang dituliskan oleh Onong Uchjana Effendy,serta ormas PEKAT IB telah berhasil mengelola citra organisasi menjadi citra yang positif di public.
