Abstract
Amaliah Al-Ilmi Bekasi Kindergarten is a kindergarten for children from families with low socioeconomic status in Pekayon, South Bekasi. Measurement of the socioeconomic status of a family can be viewed from factors of the environment of residence, parental education level, type of work, income and expenses of a family. The socioeconomic limitations of the family make it a challenge for the founder and teacher in this kindergarten. According to the results of an interview with one of the teachers who said the behavior and attitudes of students at Amaliah Al-Ilmi Kindergarten were very diverse ranging from lack of confidence, crying easily, difficult to socialize with friends, to fighting. This is the background of researchers to conduct research related to family communication patterns with low socioeconomic status on the development of children's emotional intelligence. This study aims to find out: (1) Parent and child communication patterns in school at Amaliah Al-Ilmi Kindergarten Bekasi, (2) The application of family communication patterns to the development of children's emotional intelligence related to the family's socioeconomic background, (3) The extent of understanding and family awareness of the importance of family communication patterns on the development of children's emotional intelligence. The type of research that researchers use is descriptive qualitative, through the case study method by looking at communication patterns of parents to their child. Data collection techniques are interviews and observation of four research subjects. The results showed that the dominant communication patterns applied by the four research subjects were pluralistic and protective families. Keywords : Family Communication Pattern, Low Socioeconomic Families, The Development of Child’s Emotional Quotient TK Amaliah Al-Ilmi Bekasi merupakan Taman Kanak-Kanak diperuntukkan untuk anak-anak dari keluarga dengan status sosial ekonomi rendah di daerah Pekayon, Bekasi Selatan. Pengukuran status sosial ekonomi keluarga dapat ditinjau dari faktor lingkungan tempat tinggal, tingkat pendidikan orangtua, jenis pekerjaan, penghasilan & pengeluaran keluarga. Keterbatasan sosial ekonomi keluarga menjadikan tantangan bagi pendiri maupun guru di TK ini. Menurut hasil wawancara dengan salah satu guru perilaku dan sikap siswa-siswi di TK Amaliah Al-Ilmi sangat beragam mulai dari perilaku kurang percaya diri, mudah menangis, susah bersosialisasi dengan teman, hingga bertengkar. Hal ini melatarbelakangi peneliti untuk melakukan penelitian terkait pola komunikasi keluarga dengan status sosial ekonomi rendah dalam perkembangan kecerdasan emosional anak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) Pola komunikasi orangtua dengan anak yang bersekolah di TK Amaliah Al-Ilmi Bekasi, (2) Penerapan pola komunikasi keluarga terhadap perkembangan kecerdasan emosional anak berkaitan dengan latar belakang sosial ekonomi keluarga, (3) Sejauh mana pemahaman dan kesadaran keluarga terhadap pentingnya pola komunikasi keluarga terhadap perkembangan kecerdasan emosional anak. Tipe penelitian yang peneliti gunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, melalui metode studi kasus dengan melihat pola komunikasi orangtua dan anak. Teknik pengumpulan data ialah wawancara dan observasi kepada empat subyek penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola komunikasi yang dominan diterapkan oleh keempat subjek penelitian ialah pluralistic dan protective families.
