Abstract

Support in the form of motivation is certainly needed for everyone when doing an activity. Motivation aims to provide support to someone so that person is able to do something he wants and can achieve maximum results. Like the interpersonal communication that the coach does in motivating the novice players who have just joined the Victoria Basketball Club. This study aims to identify and describe the interpersonal communication pattern of Victoria's basketball coach in motivating new basketball players who have just joined. The literature review consists of 10 previous studies. Theoretical studies in this study are Interpersonal Communication, Communication Patterns, Interpersonal Communication Functions, Interpersonal Communication Goals, Interpersonal CommunicationProcesses, Interpersonal Communication Characteristics, Motivation and Coaching. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The paradigm used in this research is constructivism paradigm. The subjects in this study consisted of 3 informants. Data collection techniques include primary data in the form of in-depth interviews and observations. For secondary data in the form of documentation. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. Then for the data validity technique using data source triangulation. The results showed that the communication made by the coach in motivating new players who just joined was through interpersonal communication. communication is carried out in two directions by providing explanations interpersonally through verbal and non-verbal communication with the aim that players better understand the message or material conveyed by the coach. Keywords: Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Communication Pattern, Motivation. Dukungan berupa motivasi tentunya sangat dibutuhkan bagi semua orang ketika sedang melakukan suatu aktivitas. Motivasi bertujuan untuk memberikan dukungan kepada seseorang agar orang tersebut mampu melakukan sesuatu yang dia inginkan dan bisa mencapai hasil yang maksimal. Seperti halnya komunikasi antarpribadi yang dilakukan pelatih dalam memotivasi pemain pemula yang baru bergabung dengan Victoria Basketball Club. Penelitian ini berujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan pola komunikasi antarpribadi pelatih basket Victoria dalam memotivasi pemain basket pemula yang baru bergabung. Tinjauan pustaka terdiri dari 10 penelitian terdahulu. Kajian teroritis dalam penelitian ini Komunikasi Antarpribadi, Pola Komunikasi, Fungsi Komunikasi Antarpribadi, Tujuan Komunikasi Antarpribadi, Proses Komunikasi Antarpribadi, Karakteristik Komunikasi Antarpribadi, Motivasi dan Pelatih. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Paradigma yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu paradigma konstruktivisme. Adapun subjek dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 3 informan. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi data primer berupa wawancara secara mendalam dan observasi. Untuk data sekunder berupa dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Lalu untuk Teknik keabsahan data menggunakan Triangulasi sumber data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi yang dilakukan pelatih dalam memotivasi pemain pemula yang baru bergabung yaitu dengan komunikasi antarpribadi. komunikasi dilakukan secara dua arah dengan memberikan penjelasan secara antarpribadi melalui komunikasi verbal dan non verbal dengan tujuan agar pemain lebih memahami pesan atau materi yang disampaikan oleh pelatih.
