Abstract

The obstacles that occur as experienced by overseas student, this feels text messages through Whatsapp often experience communication problems, because communication through text can cause misunderstandings because they do not have a senseof openness and lack of emphaty given or received between Adelia and his parents.This study aims to describe the interpersonal communication between parents and overseas student through the Whatsapp application for overseas students.This study uses a qualitative approach. This research method is qualitative descriptive. The data collection uses in-depth interviews and documentation.Validity of data using triangulation source. The results of this study include: 1. The contents of the messages between parents and children include health and collage activities. 2. Whatsapp application among parents still need a companion. 3. Comparison of Whatsapp with other media can be seen more easily by Whatsapp. 4. The emoticon function in the Whatsapp application can represent the feelings that will be conveyed to the parents or children. 5. Barriers to parent and child communication thorugh the Whatsapp application often occur, noth technical an non technical barriers. 6. Factors that affect the harmonious relationship between parents and children are : attention, knowledge, introduction to parents and children and acceptance. 7. Interpersonal communication between parents and children is : open, emphaty, positive and similar. Hambatan yang terjadi seperti yang dialami mahasiswa perantau ini merasa pesan teks melalu aplikasi Whatsapp sering kali mengalami gangguan komunikasi ,karena komunikasi melalui teks dapat menyebabkan kesalahpahaman karena tidak memiliki rasa keterbukaan dan kurang nya rasa empati yang diberikan atau diterima oleh Mahasiswa dan Orang Tua nya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan komunikasi antar pribadi orang tua dengan anak melalui aplikasi Whatsapp para mahasiswa perantau. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, metode penelitian ini deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan dokumentasi. Keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian ini antara lain: 1. Isi pesan komunikasi antar pribadi orang tua dangan anak meliputi Kesehatan dan kegiatan kuliah. 2. Aplikasi Whatsapp dikalangan orang tua masih butuh pendamping. 3. Perbandingan Whatsapp dengan media lain dapat dilihat lebih mudah tampilan Whatsapp. 4.Fungsi emoticon pada aplikasi Whatsapp dapat mewakili perasaan yang disampaikan kepada orang tua atau anak. 5. Hambatan pada komunikasi orang tua dengan anak melalui aplikasi Whatsapp sering terjadi , baik hambatan teknis atau pun non teknis. 6.Faktor yang mempengaruhi keharmonisan hubungan komunikasi orang tua dan anak adalah : perhatian,pengetahuan, pengenalan terhadap orang tua dan anak,dan sikap menerima. 7. Komunikasi antar pribadi orang tua dan anak bersifat keterbukaan, empati, postif, kesamaan. Kata Kunci : Analisis Efektivitas Komunikasi Orang Tua dan Mahasiwa Perantau Melalui Media Aplikasi Whatsapp.
