Abstract
In this thesis, writer tries to analyze various improvement methods in Kompas Daily to find out employees’ perceptions toward the implementation of Balanced Scorecard in Kompas Daily that has been put into practice since the first semester of 2007. The analysis of respondents’ perceptions toward the today implementation of Balanced Scorecard in PT Kompas Media Nusantara was conducted using responses toward questionnaire consisting of 12 items as a basis. The questionnaire was spread out to 100 respondents but only 66 respondents returned the filled out questionnaires. Out of 66 respondents, 74.24% (49 respondents) stated that he/she has heard Balanced Scorecard while the rest (25.76%, 17 respondents) declared of never heard of Balanced Scorecard. An interesting point can be drawn from this item is that 2 of total 10 structural incumbent respondents affirmed that they have never heard of the concept, even though the management initially held the socialization exclusively for structural incumbents and expected them to prolong the socialization to their team members. This fact inevitably obstructs the transference of Balanced Scorecard to all employees. The result of this analysis shows that Kompas employees haven’t equipped with adequate information about the implementation of Balanced Scorecard. A detail that may be complicating since the objective of Balanced Scorecard at the first place is to attain company’s strategic objectives. Pada karya akhir ini penulis menganalisis upaya-upaya perbaikan di Harian Kompas untuk mengetahui persepsi karyawan mengenai implementasi Balanced Scorecard di Harian Kompas yang telah diterapkan sejak tahun 2007 semester I. Analisis terhadap persepsi responden terhadap Implementasi Balanced Scorecard saat ini di PT Kompas Media Nusantara dilakukan berdasarkan respon terhadap 12 pertanyaan kuesioner. Pengumpulan data dilakukan berdasarkan kuesioner yang sudah diberikan sebanyak 100 kuesioner dan kembali kepada penulis sebanyak 66 kuesioner, Dari 66 responden, 74,24% (49 orang) menyatakan pernah mendengar mengenai Balanced Scorecard sisanya sebanyak 25,76% (17 orang) mengaku tidak pernah mendengar mengenai Balanced Scorecard. Yang menarik adalah dari 10 orang responden yang memegang jabatan struktural ada 2 orang yang menyatakan tidak pernah mendengar mengenai Balanced Scorecard, padahal manajemen melaksanakan sosialisasi yang diharapkan diikuti oleh pemegang jabatan struktural dan mengharapkan mereka meneruskan sosialisasi Balanced Scorecard kepada seluruh anggota timnya. Ketidaktahuan pemegang jabatan struktural akan konsep Balanced Scorecard tentu menghambat sosialisasi kepada seluruh karyawan. Hasil dari analisis ini menunjukan bahwa karyawan Kompas tidak memiliki pengetahuan yang memadai dalam implementasi Balanced Scorecard itu sendiri, karena Balanced Scorecard itu sendri memiliki tujuan untuk mencapai sasaran strategis perusahaan.
