Abstract

ABSTRAK Kendala dalam kegiatan pembelajaran akademik salah satunya adalah kegiatan pendataan dalam hal kehadiran siswa. Saat ini, sistem absensi siswa yang digunakan di beberapa sekolah masih menggunakan cara manual yaitu dengan penandatanganan lembar kehadiran atau pengajar akan memanggil nama siswanya satu per satu. Hal ini mempunyai banyak kelemahan, dimana selain membutuhkan waktu yang lama, waktu kehadiran siswa pun tidak jelas dan data siswa juga mudah untuk ditiru. Cara absen yang terkesan tidak modern tersebut dapat dijadikan kesempatan para siswa untuk membolos karena mereka dapat menitipkan absen pada temannya. Pada penelitian ini dirancang sebuah alat system absensi dengan menggunakan sensor fingerprint dan SMS gateway. Sensor fingerprint dijadikan sebagai system keamanan biometric. Apabila sidik jari terdeteksi oleh sensor fingerprint, Mikrokontroller Atmega 2560 akan mengirimkan perintah ke GSM Shield untuk mengirimkan SMS. Alat ini menggunakan modul RTC DS 1307 yang merupakan modul Real Time Clock digunakan sebagai pewaktu serta LCD character yang berfungsi sebagai interface. ABSTRACT One of the obstacles in academic learning activities is data collection activities in terms of student attendance. Currently, the student attendance system in schools still using the manual method, there is by signing attendance sheets or the teacher will call the names of students one by one. This is has many weaknesses, which is need addition to requiring a long time, student attendance is not clear and student data is also easy to imitate. The way to be absent which seems traditional can be used as an opportunity for students to play truant because they can leave absenteeism to their friends. In this study a attendance system was designed using fingerprint sensors and SMS gateways. Fingerprint sensor is used as a biometric security system. If the fingerprint is detected by a fingerprint sensor, the Microcontroller Atmega 2560 will send a command to the GSM Shield to send SMS. This tool use the DS 1307 RTC module which is a Real Time Clock module used as a timer and an LCD character that functions as an interface display.
