Abstract
The Kaliurang area has been seen as a tourist destination since the Dutch colonial era. In the 19th century, Dutch geologists living in Yogyakarta intended to find a resting place for their families. Kaliurang is also a well-known tourist area and is the number 3 most visited tourist area in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Existing tourist activities have become part of the daily life of the people. They use it by managing inns, restaurants, stalls, selling and other tourism services. This potential is what motivates the Wagiyo family, which has a background in managing medium-sized hotel companies, to develop a property business, a resort in the form of villas and hotel rooms and restaurants as a complement. For this reason, it is necessary to design a design in the Kaliurang area with an existing site so that it is able to maximize it in terms of function and aesthetics of a building in order to create an attractive and special design that follows the shape of the environment or nature around the building. Keywords : Tourist area, Resting place, potential, form and functional approach Kawasan Kaliurang sudah dipandang sebagai tujuan wisata sejak zaman penjajahan Belanda. Pada abad 19, para ahli geologi Belanda yang tinggal di Yogyakarta bermaksud mencari tempat peristirahatan bagi keluarga mereka. Kaliurang juga merupakan sebuah kawasan wisata yang cukup dikenal dan merupakan daerah wisata nomer 3 paling banyak dikunjungi di Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Aktivitas wisata yang ada telah menjadi bagian dari kehidupan seharihari masyarakatnya. Mereka memanfaatkannya dengan mengelola penginapan, rumah makan, warung, berjualan dan jasa wisata lainnya. Potensi inilah yang melatarbelakangi Keluarga Wagiyo yang punya latar belakang mengelola perusahaan hotel menengah akan mengembangkan bisnis property tempat peristirahatan berbentuk villa dan kamar hotel serta rumah makan sebagai pelengkap. Untuk itu di perlukan desain perancangan di Kawasan Kaliurang dengan site yang sudah ada sehingga mampu untuk memaksimalkan nya dari segi fungsi dan estetika sebuah bangunan agar terciptanya rancangan yang menarik dan istimewa mengikuti bentuk pada lingkungan atau alam sekitar bangunan tersebut.
