Abstract

Cokek dance is a traditional art of the Betawi people influenced by Chinese culture, started in the Dutch colonial era as entertainment for landlords and invited guests, then developing into a social dance. As time goes by, the Cokek dance was largely abandoned because it featured erotic movements so that it was considered as dance with negative nuances. As a result, the existence of the Cokek dance has become marginalized and hard to find. As an effort to preserve the art of Cokek dance, has become the goal in making this documentary work. This documentary work "COKEK" contains documentation about the traditional dance of the Betawi people, the Cokek dance. This documentary film discusses everything related to this art such as history, movement, music, costumes, and so on. In addition, it also discusses the public's view of the Cokek dance which was considered negative, and how to get rid of this negative view. The concept of directing in this work uses an essay type approach, a scientific genre, with an expository type of presentation, and a dialectical structure of speech. This documentary work uses interviews and narratives that are read in voice over. The descriptions described are facts combined with a series of pictures, so that information is conveyed in a more descriptive and informative manner. Keyword: Art, Betawi, Chinese, Cokek Dance Tari Cokek merupakan kesenian tradisional masyarakat Betawi yang dipengaruhi kebudayaan Tionghoa, berawal pada zaman kolonial Belanda sebagai hiburan bagi para tuan tanah dan tamu undangan, kemudian berkembang menjadi tari pergaulan. Dalam perkembangannya, tari Cokek banyak ditinggalkan karena menampilkan gerakan yang erotis sehingga dianggap sebagai tarian yang bernuansa negatif. Akibatnya eksistensi tari Cokek menjadi terpinggirkan dan sulit ditemukan. Sebagai upaya untuk melestarikan kesenian tari Cokek, menjadi tujuan dalam pembuatan karya dokumenter ini. Karya dokumenter “COKEK” ini berisi dokumentasi mengenai tari tradisional masyarakat betawi, tari cokek. Film dokumenter ini membahas segala hal yang berkaitan dengan kesenian ini seperti sejarah, gerakan, musik, kostum, dan lain-lain. Selain itu juga dibahas mengenai pandangan masyarakat terhadap tari cokek yang sempat dipandang negatif, serta bagaimana menghilangkan pandangan negatif tersebut. Konsep penyutradaraan dalam karya ini menggunakan tipe pendekatan esai, bergenre ilmu pengetahuan, dengan tipe pemaparan ekspositori, dan struktur penuturan dialektik. Karya dokumenter ini menggunakan wawancara dan narasi yang dibacakan secara voice over. Paparan yang dijelaskan berupa fakta yang dikombinasikan dengan rangkaian gambar, sehingga informasi disampaikan secara lebih deskriptif dan informatif.
