Abstract
The development of the two-wheel automotive industry did not meet the saturation point, in Indonesia Southeast Asia occupying the top position in motorcycle sales. Some of the factors that influence sales positioning are the lifestyle factors and as a favorite mode of transportation. Product quality must be taken into consideration, one of which is the performance quality of the motorcycle components. Appearance defects are defects that arise after the coating process of this component; high painting defects need to be analyzed how to minimize defects caused by the painting process. Some theoretical studies, previous research on quality, referenced in analyzing defects, by collecting, processing data, observing, interviewing the next step was to find solutions for improvement with a comprehensive DMAIC approach. The data collection and processing results indicate that the DPMO value and 1 year sigma value for 4 rows is 5892 and the sigma level is 4. For the highest defect of four rows is row 1 at 6.86%, the DPMO 7619 value and sigma level 3.9 are the basic values on line 1. The highest type of defect in line 1 is spot/dirty, thick hangers have the highest RPN value of 280 which is one of the causes of spot/dirty. Improvements were prioritized for the highest 8 RPN values, decreasing the defective ratio in 2019 in November by 5.76% and December 4.32% Key Words Perkembangan industri automotive kendaraan roda dua belum menemukan titik jenuh, di Asia Tenggara Indonesia menempati posisi teratas penjualan sepeda motor. Beberapa hal yang mempengaruhi peringkat penjualan adalah faktor gaya hidup masyarakat dan sebagai moda transportasi favorit. Kualitas produk harus diperhatikan, salah satunya adalah kualitas performance dari komponen sepeda motor. Cacat appearance merupakan cacat yang timbul setelah proses pelapisan komponen tersebut, tingginya cacat painting perlu dilakukan analisis bagaimana menurunkan cacat akibat dari proses painting. Beberapa kajian teori, penelitian terdahulu tentang kualitas menjadi acuan dalam menganalisa cacat, dengan pengumpulan, pengolahan data, observasi, wawancara maka langkah selanjutnya adalah menemukan solusi untuk perbaikan dengan pendekatan DMAIC secara komprehensif. Hasil dari pengumpulan dan pengolahan data diketahui bahwa nilai DPMO dan nilai sigma selama 1 tahun untuk 4 Line sebesar 5892 dan level sigma 4. Untuk cacat tertinggi dari keempat Line adalah Line 1 sebesar 6.86%, nilai DPMO 7619 dan level sigma 3.9 nilai tersebut sebagai baseline pada Line 1. Jenis cacat tertinggi di Line 1 adalah bintik/kotor, hanger tebal memiliki nilai RPN tertinggi 280 salah satu penyebab cacat bintik/kotor. Perbaikan diprioritaskan pada 8 nilai RPN tertinggi tersebut, penurunan ratio cacat terjadi ditahun 2019 bulan November sebesar 5.76% dan Desember 4.32% Kata Kunci : DMAIC, Painting, Six Sigma, Cacat, DPMO
