Abstract

Rendahnya jumlah akuntan publik di Indonesia mendapat perhatian serius baik dari pemerintah dan organisasi profesi akuntan publik. Mengacu pada teori karir kognitif sosial (Social Cognitive Career Theory). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pemilihan karir mahasiswa S1 jurusan akuntansi Universitas Mercu Buana dan Universitas Indonesia. Variabel independen dalam penelitian ini adalah pelatihan professional, parental influence, dan persepsi mahasiswa sedangkan variabel dependen adalah pemilihan karir sebagai akuntan publik. Sampel penelitian dengan menggunakan convenience sampling dengan menyebarkan kuesioner kepada responden secara kebetulan/incidental bertemu dengan peneliti. Jumlah sampel yang digunakan adalah 88 responden. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi logistik biner dengan menggunakan SPSS versi 20. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa secara simultan variabel pelatihan professional, parental influence dan persepsi mahasiswa berpengaruh terhadap pemilihan karir sebagai akuntan publik. Hasil penelitian secara parsial menunjukkan bahwa secara parsial variabel pelatihan professional tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pemilihan karir sebagai akuntan publik. Sedangkan variabel parental influence berpengaruh negative dan variabel persepsi mahasiswa berpengaruhi positif terhadap pemilihan karir sebagai akuntan publik.The small number of public accountants of Indonesia got fully attention from both the government and organizatition of public accountant professions. Refer to theory of Social Cognitive Career. The purpose of this study is to find the influence of the factors of the career selection of the S1 student at accounting department at Mercu Buana University and the University of Indonesia. An independent variable in this research is training professional, parental influence, and perception of accounting students while dependent variable is career choice as public accountant. This research sample using convenience sampling by spreading to respondents questionnaires by chance/incidental met with researchers. The samples are 88 respondents. The analytical method is binary logistic regression using SPSS Version 20. This results show that the simultan variable professional training, parental influence and perception of accounting students had affect on career choice as public accountant. The results show that the partial variable professional training had no significant affect on career choice as public accountant. While the variable parental influence had negative affect and perception of accounting students had positive affect on career choice as public accountant.
