Abstract
This study aims to describe the implementation of directing techniques in the production process of the drama film Sampai Pada Akhirnya. The research focuses on the director's role in transforming the screenplay into an audiovisual work through the management of mise en scène, actor direction, shot composition, camera movement, and dramatic rhythm to build emotional engagement and effectively convey the story's message. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method using a practice-based research approach. Data were collected through observation during the pre-production, production, and post-production stages, documentation, literature review, and evaluation of the completed film. The findings indicate that directing techniques play a crucial role in developing the storyline, strengthening character development, visualizing conflicts, and maintaining dramatic continuity throughout the film. The implementation of actor direction, blocking, visual composition, artistic design, lighting, and editing successfully enhances the delivery of themes related to struggle, sacrifice, and the meaning of life. Therefore, effective film directing depends not only on technical competence but also on the director's ability to integrate all cinematic elements into a coherent audiovisual work with strong artistic and emotional impact. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan penerapan teknik penyutradaraan dalam proses penciptaan film drama Sampai Pada Akhirnya. Penelitian berfokus pada peran sutradara dalam menerjemahkan naskah menjadi karya audio visual melalui pengelolaan unsur mise en scène, pengarahan pemain, komposisi gambar, pergerakan kamera, serta ritme dramatik untuk membangun emosi dan penyampaian pesan kepada penonton. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan penciptaan karya (practice-based research). Data diperoleh melalui observasi selama proses praproduksi, produksi, dan pascaproduksi, dokumentasi, studi pustaka, serta evaluasi hasil karya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik penyutradaraan memiliki peran yang sangat penting dalam membangun alur cerita, pendalaman karakter, visualisasi konflik, serta kesinambungan dramatik film. Penerapan pengarahan aktor, blocking, komposisi visual, tata artistik, pencahayaan, dan penyuntingan mampu memperkuat penyampaian pesan mengenai perjuangan, pengorbanan, dan makna kehidupan yang menjadi tema utama film. Dengan demikian, keberhasilan penyutradaraan tidak hanya ditentukan oleh kemampuan teknis, tetapi juga oleh kemampuan sutradara dalam mengintegrasikan seluruh unsur sinematik sehingga menghasilkan film yang memiliki kualitas artistik dan emosional.
