Abstract

Indonesia is the fifth largest country in the world to access pornography with the keyword "sex" on internet search engines. Meanwhile, Jakarta occupies 4th place under Delhi, Hanoi and Mumbai. Data shows that accessing the biggest pornographic material is teenagers. Pornography has a serious negative impact because it can damage the brain and psychological individual. Not only the impact on individual pornography actors, addiction to pornography also causes adverse effects on the environment such as increased cases of violence and sexual abuse and damage to the order and norms in society. The question that arises in response to this condition is why teens often access pornographic information? At the beginning of his thinking, Festinger through the theory of selective exposure has placed belief as a variable that causes the process of information selection. Over time, many studies have explained that selective exposure is not only related to the belief variable. The usefulness theory of information confirms that a person's behavior in choosing and avoiding information is not merely caused by whether the information creates consonance or dissonance, but rather is triggered by the usefulness of that information for someone. This study wants to see the role of the utility of information on pornography in modern Islamic boarding school in the city of Tangerang. The research method is a case study using a qualitative approach. The results of the study showed that the santri thought that pornographic information could help understanding reproductive health, and strengthen attitudes to reject pornographic information. Pornographic information is only useful to the extent of knowledge and not to be an indication of how to carry out pornography activities. Furthermore, the santri stated information on important pornography, and was close to everyday life and they were very curious about pornography. However, all these things are only limited to understanding and knowledge, not for sexual behavior. This is due to the upbringing of the pesantren which requires the santri to submit and obey the rules of the pesantren. Indonesia merupakan negara kelima dunia terbanyak mengakses pornografi dengan kata kunci “sex” pada mesin pencari (search engine) internet. Sementara itu, Jakarta menempati posisi ke-4 berada dibawah Delhi, Hanoi, dan Mumbai. Yang memprihatinkan, ketika diteliti lebih mendalam, ternyata pengakses materi pornografi terbesar adalah remaja. Pornografi memiliki dampak negatif serius karena dapat merusak otak dan psikologis individu. Tidak hanya dampak kepada individu pelaku pornografi, kecanduan pornografi juga menyebabkan dampak yang buruk pada lingkungan seperti meningkatnya kasus kekerasan dan pelecehan seksual serta rusaknya tatanan dan norma di masyarakat. Pertanyaan yang muncul menyikapi kondisi ini adalah mengapa remaja kerap mengakses informasi pornografi? Pada awal pemikirannya, Festinger melalui teori selective exposure telah menempatkan keyakinan (belief) sebagai variabel yang menyebabkan proses seleksi informasi. Seiring perjalanan waktu, banyak kajian yang memaparkan bahwa selective exposure tidaklah hanya berhubungan dengan variabel belief. Teori kegunaan informasi menegaskan bahwa perilaku seseorang dalam memilih dan menghindari informasi tidaklah semata disebabkan oleh apakah informasi itu menimbulkan konsonansi atau disonansi, tetapi lebih dipicu oleh kegunaan informasi itu bagi seseorang. Penelitian ini ingin melihat peran kegunaan informasi pornografi pada santri pesantren modern di Kota Tangerang. Metode penelitian adalah studi kasus dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa para santri beranggapan informasi pornografi dapat membantu pemahaman terkait kesehatan reproduksi, dan menguatkan sikap untuk menolak informasi pornografi. Informasi pornografi hanya sebatas pengetahuan dan tidak untuk menjadi petunjuk bagaimana melakukan kegiatan pornographi. Lebih lanjut, para santri menyatakan informasi pornografi penting, dan dekat dengan kehidupan sehari-hari serta mereka sangat ingin tahu tentang pornografi. Namun, semua hal tersebut hanyalah sebatas untuk pemahaman dan pengetahuan, bukan untuk melakukan perilaku seksual. Hal ini dikarenakan pola asuh pesantren yang mengharuskan para santri tunduk dan patuh pada peraturan pondok pesantren. Keywords: pornografi, teori kegunaan informasi, peraturan pondok pesantren.
