Abstract
Along with the times, films are not only used as entertainment media but are also used as mass communication media to convey certain messages to the public. In making our short film entitled “Hasrat”, the Director of Photography applied the 5c's Of Cinematography theory and used the concept of Continuity to help convey the message of the film to the audience. 5 C's of Cinematography is a theory that Joseph V. Mascelli simplifies the important aspects of cinematography which include Camera Angel, Continuity, Cutting, Close Up & Composition. Therefore, the author as Director of Photography uses the 5'C Cinematography technique in making his film. These techniques and concepts will make it easier and help the audience to understand the plot, content, meaning and message in the short film "Jumpa". During the shooting process, Dop and the Director and Editor discussed with each other to produce good images and produce maximum output so that the message to be conveyed in the film Jumpa could be conveyed clearly to the audience. In its production, the film Jumpa uses more dynamic shots to increase the impression of drama in the film, while in terms of composition, the film Jumpa uses more Medium & Close Up shot types to emphasize the expressions of the actors to the audience. Key words : Short films, Director of Photography, 5'c cinematography, cinematography Seiring perkembangan zaman, film selain digunakan sebagai media hiburan juga sering digunakan sebagai media komunikasi massa untuk menyampaikan pesan pesan tertentu kepada khalayak. . Dalam pembuatan film pendek kami yang berjudul “Jumpa”, penata kamera mengaplikasikan teori 5c’s of cinematography dan memakai konsep Continuity untuk membantu menyampaikan pesan dari film tersebut kepada para penontonya. 5 C’s Of Sinematography merupakan sebuah teori yang oleh Joseph V. Mascelli meyederhanakan Aspek aspek penting dalam sinematografi yang mana meliputi Camera Angel, Continuity, Cutting, Close Up & Composition. Maka dari itu penulis sebagai Director of Photography menggunakan teknik 5’C Cinematography dalam penggarapan filmnya. Teknik dan Konsep ini akan memudahkan dan membantu penonton untuk memahami alur, isi, arti dan pesan dalam film pendek “Jumpa”. Dalam proses pengambilan gambar, Dop bersama Sutradara , Editor saling berdiskusi untuk menghasilkan gambar yang bagus dan menghasilkan output yang maksimal sehingga pesan yang ingin disampaikan dalam film Jumpa ini dapat tersampaikan dengan jelas kepada para penontonya. Dalam produksinya film Jumpa memperbanyak pengambilan gambar dinamis untuk meningkatkan kesan drama dalam film tersebut, sedangkan dalam segi komposisi, film Jumpa memperbanyak type shot Medium & Close Up untuk menekankan ekspresi pemeran kepada para penonton.
