Abstract

Batik is an Indonesian cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO, yet the younger generation, especially Generation Z, has limited understanding of the batik-making process. Additionally, the interest of young people in pursuing the profession of batik-making is declining. To address this issue, early education on batik culture through play-based media is needed to spark children's interest and creativity. This research was conducted using experimental and observational methods. The study designs an educational toy for batik motif exploration using the stamped technique, incorporating a modified rubik cube concept. This toy aims to educate children about batik culture, enhance fine motor skills, and stimulate creativity through batik motif exploration. The batik-making process in this toy mimics the stamped technique, where players can print batik motifs using rubik cube stamps. The combination of six master batik motifs in the game design produces hundreds of new patterns, making the toy open-ended and encouraging children to think creatively. The toy is also designed with child safety in mind, using materials that lack sharp edges and non-toxic acrylic paints to prevent skin allergies. This research demonstrates that a rubik cube-based batik printing tool can create sustainable designs, where a single tool can produce 768 new motif possibilities. With this approach, children can explore batik culture through an enjoyable and educational experience. Batik adalah warisan budaya Indonesia yang diakui UNESCO, namun pemahaman generasi muda, khususnya generasi Z, tentang proses membatik masih minim. Selain itu, minat anak muda untuk menekuni profesi membatik semakin menurun. Untuk mengatasi masalah ini, diperlukan edukasi budaya batik sejak dini melalui media permainan yang dapat memicu minat dan kreativitas anak-anak. Penelitian dilakukan dengan metode eksperimen dan observasi. Penelitian ini merancang mainan eksplorasi motif batik menggunakan teknik cap dengan menggunakan konsep rubik cube yang dimodifikasi. Mainan ini bertujuan untuk mengedukasi anak tentang budaya batik, melatih motorik halus, dan merangsang kreativitas anak melalui eksplorasi motif batik. Proses membatik dalam permainan ini menyerupai teknik cap, di mana pemain dapat mencetak motif batik menggunakan stempel rubik cube. Kombinasi enam master motif batik dalam desain permainan menghasilkan ratusan pola baru, memungkinkan permainan ini menjadi open-ended dan mendorong anak berpikir kreatif. Mainan ini juga dirancang dengan memperhatikan faktor keselamatan anak, menggunakan material yang tidak memiliki sudut tajam dan cat akrilik non-toksik untuk mencegah alergi kulit. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa alat cetak batik berbasis rubik cube dapat menciptakan desain yang berkelanjutan, di mana satu alat dapat menghasilkan 768 kemungkinan motif baru. Dengan pendekatan ini, anak-anak dapat mengenal budaya batik melalui pengalaman yang menyenangkan dan edukatif.
