Abstract

ABSTRACT This study discusses the role of hardiness as a mediator in the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and career competencies (CC) in workers. Emotional intelligence in individuals refers to the ability of individuals to recognize, understand, and manage emotions in themselves and others, where emotional intelligence is recognized as having a significant influence on various aspects of worker performance including career competencies. This study uses a quantitative method through a mediation regression process using PROCESS V4.0 Procedure for SPSS by Andrew F. Hayes convenience sampling to 660 workers. The results of the study indicate that hardiness acts as a mediator in the relationship between emotional intelligence and career competencies in workers, this shows that career competencies are higher after emotional intelligence through hardiness first. This study is expected to provide a reference for companies and workers regarding the importance of understanding aspects of hardiness, emotional intelligence, and career competencies so that workers are able to continue to improve their abilities.
