Abstract
ABSTRACT Today, one of the entertainment media that is still the people's choice is movies. The movie “Jakarta vs Everybody” is a work that raises the themes of life in Jakarta, including the existing criminality. This study aims to examine how junior high school students' reception of the movie “Jakarta Vs Everybody” especially Criminality and to identify its impact on their development. This study uses the theory of encoding or decoding reception analysis according to Stuart Hall which categorizes the audience's position into three namely dominant hegemonic position, negotiated position, and oppositional position. This research uses a reception analysis method with a qualitative approach and a constructivist paradigm. The sources of this research are 10 students of SMP 47 Central Jakarta. The results of this study show that junior high school students have various ways of perceiving this movie. Most students are in the dominant position with a total of 15, the next position is negotiation with a total of 9 and, the opposition position with a total of 6. This means that the audience accepts and agrees with the crime in the film without any rejection. ABSTRAK Saat ini, salah satu media hiburan yang masih menjadi pilihan masyarakat adalah film. Film "Jakarta vs Everybody" adalah sebuah karya yang mengangkat tema-tema kehidupan di Jakarta, termasuk kriminalitas yang ada. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana resepsi siswa SMP pada film “Jakarta Vs Everybody” terutama Kriminalitas serta untuk mengidentifikasi dampaknya pada perkembangan mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori analisis resepsi encoding atau decoding menurut Stuart Hall yang mengkategorikan posisi penonton menjadi tiga yaitu dominat hegemonic position, negotiated position, dan oppositional position. Penelitian ini mrnggunakan metode analisis resepsi dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan paradigma konstuktivis. Narasumber penelitian ini adalah 10 orang siswa SMP 47 Jakarta Pusat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa siswa SMP memiliki beragam cara dalam meresepsi film ini. Sebagian besar siswa berada pada posisi dominan dengan jumlah 15, posisi selanjuntya negosiasi dengan jumlah 9 dan, posisi oposisi dengan jumlah 6. Artinya para khalyak menerima dan setuju dengan adanya tindak kriminlitas yang ada di dalam film tersebut tanpa ada penolakan.
