Abstract
Entering into the modern era in which much is concerned with advanced technology and science, education institutions in particular should not remain in place for the modernization. The log cabin was originally called the place to seek out the traditional and outdated sciences, and now it has had to begin to adapt to the development of The Times, and today there are many technological support facilities that start to enter the boarding school primarily on modern basis. Ciadvocates district is one of the areas in Indonesia that are called santri cities. The term was applied to cities with many boarding houses. Circulating data will show that there are about 353 boarding schools standing by the sponsor. However, only one of the best 8 boarding houses is modern. So the modern boarding house that supports educational facilities is scanty. To provide a solution to the above problem, the planning of this modern boarding house will be located in sponsor district, giving different views from other boarding houses, implementing current modern, contemporary architectural approaches that could be an innovation for the design of other boarding houses. Memasuki masa-masa era modern yang banyak bersangkutan dengan teknologi dan ilmu pengetahuan yang lebih maju, Lembaga pendidikan terutama pondok pesantren pun juga tidak boleh tertinggal untuk mengikuti arus modernisasi. Pondok pesantren awalnya sering disebut tempat mencari ilmu yang tradisional dan ketinggalan zaman, kini pondok pesantren sudah harus mulai menyesuaikan dalam perkembangan zaman dan sekarang sudah banyak fasilitas penunjang teknologi yang mulai masuk ke lembaga pendidikan pesantren terutama berbasis modern. Kabupaten Cianjur merupakan salah satu daerah di Indonesia yang di juluki kota santri. Istilah ini diberikan kepada kota-kota yang memiliki banyak pondok pesantren. Dari data yang beredar ada sekitar 353 pondok pesantren yang berdiri di Cianjur. Namun, dari 8 pondok pesantren terbaik hanya satu yang berbasis modern. Sehingga pondok pesantren modern yang menunjang fasilitas pendidikan masih cukup minim. Untuk memberikan solusi pada permasalahan diatas, perencanaan pondok pesantren modern ini akan berlokasi di kabupaten Cianjur, dengan memberikan nuansa yang berbeda dari pondok pesantren lainnya, menerapkan pendekatan arsitektur kontemporer yang sedang tren saat ini sehingga bisa menjadi inovasi untuk desain pondok pesantren lainnya.
