Abstract
This study aims to design a 2D animated music video for the song "WHERE U FROM" by Joey Valence & Brae as a creative and engaging promotional tool. The depiction of Joey Valence & Brae characters is done in a semi-realistic and cartoonish style to create visuals that are appealing and relevant to the themes of hip-hop, internet culture, and anime. The music video is targeted at Gen-Z audiences who are active on social media platforms like YouTube. The methodology includes character design, storyline development, storyboarding, and frame-by-frame animation using a pen tablet. The visualization is approached with a simplistic style and color contrast to highlight the main characters. The process of combining visuals and audio is carried out using Adobe Premiere Pro and FireAlpaca software. The results show that this music video successfully captures the attention of young audiences with its appealing and relevant visuals to the song's lyrics. Feedback surveys indicate that while the audience's response to the relationship between music and visuals is quite good, the graphic quality still needs improvement. Enhancements include better animation quality, adding colors, and subtitles. This animated music video effectively serves as an engaging promotional tool for young audiences and strengthens the image of the rapper duo Joey Valence & Brae. Improving graphic quality and optimizing the use of social media is expected to increase audience appeal and engagement, as well as achieve optimal marketing goals. This project provides both short-term and long-term promotional benefits by reinforcing the song's recall among hip-hop music fans. Keywords: Music Video, 2D Animation, Promotion, Hip-Hop Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang video musik animasi 2D untuk lagu "WHERE U FROM" oleh Joey Valence & Brae sebagai alat promosi yang kreatif dan menarik. Penggambaran karakter Joey Valence & Brae dilakukan dengan gaya semi-realis dan kartunis untuk menciptakan visual yang menarik dan relevan dengan tema hip-hop, internet, dan anime. Video musik ini ditargetkan untuk audiens Gen-Z yang aktif di media sosial seperti YouTube. Metode meliputi desain karakter, storyline, storyboard, dan animasi frameper-frame menggunakan pen tablet. Visualisasi dilakukan dengan pendekatan simplistik dan kontras warna untuk menonjolkan karakter utama. Proses penggabungan visual dan audio dilakukan menggunakan software Adobe Premiere Pro dan FireAlpaca. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa video musik ini mampu menarik perhatian audiens muda dengan visual yang menarik dan relevan dengan lirik lagu. Survei umpan balik menunjukkan bahwa meskipun respons audiens terhadap hubungan musik dan visual cukup baik, kualitas grafis masih perlu ditingkatkan. Perbaikan mencakup peningkatan animasi, penambahan warna, dan subtitle. Video musik animasi ini efektif sebagai alat promosi yang menarik bagi audiens muda dan mampu memperkuat citra duo rapper Joey Valence & Brae. Peningkatan kualitas grafis dan optimalisasi penggunaan media sosial diharapkan dapat meningkatkan daya tarik dan engagement audiens, serta mencapai tujuan pemasaran yang optimal. Proyek ini memberikan manfaat promosi jangka pendek dan jangka panjang dalam memperkuat daya ingat terhadap lagu di kalangan penggemar musik hip-hop.
