Abstract
School bags are essential equipment for students at various levels of education, featuring motifs that reflect contemporary styles and preferences. Bold patterns like floral, geometric, or abstract designs, as well as those inspired by popular culture, are chosen to express students' identities and personal styles. School bags serve not only as book carriers but also as a medium for self-expression. In Indonesia, the waning interest in local culture often stems from the perception that it is outdated or irrelevant. However, many fascinating cultural motifs, such as Betawi batik, can serve as visual inspiration for modern products. The influence of foreign cultures has led many Betawi people to abandon their own culture. There is a need for platforms that promote and preserve Betawi culture and art, including through fashion products. Marquetry, a technique using thin pieces of various materials to create intricate designs, now utilizes flexible synthetic leather with a wide range of colors and weather resistance. The design of these bags considers both functionality and aesthetics to create innovative and appealing products. Keywords: School Bags, Betawi Culture, Marquetry Technique Tas sekolah adalah perlengkapan penting bagi pelajar dari berbagai tingkat pendidikan dengan motif-motif yang mencerminkan gaya dan preferensi zaman sekarang. Motif bold seperti floral, geometris, atau abstrak, serta motif-motif yang terinspirasi dari budaya populer, menjadi pilihan untuk mengekspresikan identitas dan gaya pribadi pelajar. Tas sekolah bukan hanya alat bawa buku, tetapi juga medium untuk mengekspresikan diri. Di Indonesia, kurangnya minat terhadap budaya lokal sering disebabkan persepsi bahwa budaya tersebut kuno atau tidak relevan. Namun, banyak motif seni budaya yang menarik, seperti batik Betawi, bisa menjadi inspirasi visual untuk produk modern. Pengaruh budaya asing menyebabkan banyak orang Betawi meninggalkan budaya mereka. Perlu adanya platform yang mempromosikan dan melestarikan budaya dan seni Betawi, termasuk dalam produk fashion. Teknik marquetry, yang menggunakan potongan tipis dari berbagai bahan untuk menciptakan gambar rumit, kini menggunakan kulit sintetis yang fleksibel, memiliki beragam pilihan warna, dan tahan cuaca. Desain tas dengan teknik ini mempertimbangkan fungsi dan estetika untuk menciptakan produk yang inovatif dan menarik. Kata kunci: Tas Sekolah, Budaya Betawi, Teknik Marquetry.
