Abstract

Hope is a desire that everyone has to reach a purpose in their life. Likewise for heart disease patients who are fight for against their disease. However, quite a few heart disease patients are distraught and pessimistic about the recovery of their health condition. Self-acceptance and gratitude are one of the ways that can be done to increase their hope of life. Therefore, this study aims to see whether giving gratitude training to heart disease patients is effective in increasing their hope of life. This research uses a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method, Non-Equivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. This study had 16 participants in middle-late adulthood age with a diagnosis of heart disease and who were undergoing outpatient treatment at the hospital. The participant then divided into 2 groups, 7 participants in the experimental group and 9 participants in the control group. The experimental group will be given gratitude training in 2 meetings. In this study, level of hope for life will be measured using the HHI (Herth Hope Index). The result of paired sample t test and one-way ANOVA has significance of each is p < 0,05 it means that gratitude training is effective and has a big influence on increasing hope for life in heart disease patients. Keywords: Gratitude Training, Hope for Life, Heart Disease Patients Harapan merupakan keinginan yang pasti dimiliki oleh setiap orang untuk mencapai sesuatu dalam hidupnya. Demikian pula pada pasien penyakit jantung yang sedang berjuang melawan penyakitnya. Namun, tidak sedikit pasien penyakit jantung yang pasrah dan pesimis atas pemulihan kondisi tubuhnya. Penerimaan diri dan rasa syukur menjadi cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan harapan mereka untuk hidup. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah pemberian pelatihan kebersyukuran pada pasien penyakit jantung efektif untuk meningkatkan harapan mereka untuk hidup. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode kuasi eksperimental Non-equivalent Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Penelitian ini memiliki 16 partisipan usia dewasa madya-akhir dengan diagnosa penyakit jantung dan sedang menjalani rawat jalan di Rumah Sakit yang selanjutnya dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok, yakni 7 partisipan pada kelompok eksperimen dan 9 partisipan pada kelompok kontrol. Kelompok eksperimen mengikuti pelatihan kebersyukuran sebanyak 2x pertemuan. Tingkat harapan untuk hidup pada penelitian ini diukur menggunakan HHI (Herth Hope Index). Hasil uji paired sample t test dan ANOVA satu jalur menunjukkan masingmasing memiliki signifikansi p < 0.05 yang berarti pelatihan kebersyukuran efektif dan berpengaruh besar terhadap peningkatan harapan untuk hidup pada pasien penyakit jantung.
