Abstract

The issue of plastic waste has become a significant contributor to environmental pollution, both on land and in the ocean. Based on data obtained from the Indonesian Plastic Industry Association (INAPLAS) and the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), plastic waste in Indonesia has reached 64 million tons per year, with 3.2 million tons of plastic waste being disposed of into the sea. Plastic waste dumped into the ocean can take hundreds of years to decompose naturally, posing a threat to marine life. In the long run, humans will also feel its impact through the consumption of fish or seafood products. Therefore, raising awareness of the dangers of plastic waste to the marine ecosystem needs to be prioritized as early as possible to reduce plastic usage. In response to the issue of plastic waste, the author has designed a social campaign using offline events supported by animated media to encourage the target audience to participate directly in maintaining the cleanliness of their surroundings. The author also employs online and print media to disseminate information, making the public aware of the dangerous impact that plastic waste can have on their environment, especially when it reaches the ocean. Keywords: Social Campaign, Plastic Waste, Ocean Permasalahan sampah plastik menjadi salah satu penyumbang pencemaran lingkungan, baik di tanah maupun laut. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari Asosiasi Industri Plastik Indonesia (INAPLAS) dan Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), sampah plastik di Indonesia telah mencapai 64 juta ton/tahun dengan sebanyak 3,2 juta ton sampah plastik yang dibuang ke laut. Sampah plastik yang dibuang ke laut membutuhkan waktu sampai ratusan tahun agar dapat terurai alami, sehingga keberadaannya telah membahayakan makhluk hidup yang tinggal di laut. Dalam jangka panjang, manusia juga akan merasakan dampaknya melalui ikan atau produk-produk laut yang dikonsumsi. Oleh karena itu, kesadaran akan bahaya sampah plastik bagi ekosistem laut perlu ditingkatkan sedini mungkin agar dapat segera dilakukan upaya pengurangan penggunaan plastik. Untuk menanggapi permasalahan mengenai sampah plastik ini, penulis melakukan sebuah perancangan kampanye sosial dengan menggunakan offline event yang didukung juga dengan media animasi untuk mengajak target audiens berpartisipasi langsung dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan sekitarnya. Penulis juga menggunakan media online dan media cetak dalam menyebarkan informasi agar masyarakat dapat mengetahui dampak berbahaya yang dapat ditimbulkan dari sampah plastik kepada lingkungan sekitarnya, terutama jika sampai ke laut.
