Abstract
In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the tradition of storytelling as a moral learning medium is overshadowed by the rapid development of technology. Children tend to be more interested in gadgets and audiovisual entertainment, leading to a decline in knowledge and interest in local Indonesian folklore. Inspired by this, the author decided to adapt the book "Kancil dengan Kura-Kura" by Matsaid and Wan Adil from 1980 into a short 3D animated film titled "Si Acil & Si Ara." The choice of 3D animation format is expected to effectively convey the moral message of the Kancil and Kura-kura story and increase children's interest in Indonesian folklore. The film aims to reintroduce moral values in folklore using a format and design style that aligns with the preferences of contemporary children. It is hoped that this film can be a source of entertainment that contributes positively to the development of the 3D animation industry in Indonesia. Keywords: Short Film, Folklore, 3D Animation, Kancil, Character Design Dalam era Revolusi Industri 4.0, tradisi dongeng sebagai media pembelajaran moral terpinggirkan oleh pesatnya perkembangan teknologi. Anak-anak cenderung lebih tertarik pada gadget dan hiburan audio visual, mengakibatkan penurunan pengetahuan dan minat terhadap dongeng lokal Indonesia. Terinspirasi oleh hal ini, penulis memutuskan untuk mengadaptasi buku "Kancil dengan Kura-Kura" karya Matsaid dan Wan Adil tahun 1980 ke dalam film pendek animasi 3D berjudul "Si Acil & Si Ara." Pemilihan format 3D animasi diharapkan dapat efektif menyampaikan pesan moral kisah Kancil dan Kura-kura serta meningkatkan minat anak-anak terhadap dongeng Indonesia. Film ini bertujuan memperkenalkan kembali nilai-nilai moral dalam dongeng dengan menggunakan format dan gaya desain yang sesuai dengan preferensi anak-anak masa kini. Diharapkan film ini dapat menjadi sarana hiburan yang memberikan kontribusi positif pada perkembangan industri animasi 3D di Indonesia.
