Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has a major impact on all aspects of life including the education and work policy sector which requires carrying out main activities at home. Changes in the frequent amount of meetings between the family members disrupt the variety of communication topics. This study aims to determine how family communication patterns during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses a theoretical basis according to Joseph A. Devito, namely: Equality Pattern, Balance Split Pattern, Unbalanced Split Pattern, and Monopoly Pattern. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative by conducting in-depth interviews with 3 informant families and the paradigm used is post-positivism. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that there has been a change in family communication patterns during the Covid-19 pandemic and the 3 informant families have a separate Balance Split Pattern manifested by the role between each family member, namely the father as a leader in the family, and earn a living, then the mother has the role of a wife and a mother who manages household affairs as well as a child who studies hard, and obeys parents' orders. Keywords: Communication Patterns, Covid-19 Pandemic, Family Pandemi Covid-19 berdampak besar kepada seluruh aspek kehidupan termasuk kepada sektor kebijakan pendidikan dan pekerjaan yang mengharuskan melakukan aktivitas utama dalam rumah. Terjadinya perubahan intensitas waktu dalam bertemu dengan anggota keluarga menyebabkan pada perubahan intensitas dan topik dalam berkomunikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pola komunikasi keluarga dalam masa pandemi Covid-19. Penelitian ini menggunakan landasan teori menurut Joseph A Devito yaitu : Equality Pattern, Balance Split Pattern, Unbalanced Split Pattern, dan Monopoly Pattern. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan melakukan wawancara mendalam dengan 3 keluarga informan dan paradigma yang digunakan adalah post-positivisme. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa terjadi perubahan pola komunikasi keluarga dalam masa pandemi Covid-19 dan pada ke-3 keluarga informan memiliki pola komunikasi seimbang terpisah (Balance Split Pattern) diwujudkan dengan adanya peran antara masing-masing anggota keluarga yaitu ayah sebagai pemimpin dalam keluarga dan mencari nafkah, lalu ibu memiliki peran sebagai istri dan seorang ibu yang mengatur urusan rumah tangga serta seorang anak yang belajar dengan giat, dan menaati perintah orang tua.
