Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between spirituality and existential anxiety in teenagers at SMAIT Alia Islamic School. Because the school found several problems regarding existential anxiety in adolescents. Teenagers who experience existential anxiety tend to feel anxious about their temporary existence and have no clear meaning and can overcome it by getting closer to God. Previous research explains that one's anxiety can be overcome if one has good spirituality. Respondents in this study were 115 adolescents who attended SMAIT Alia Islamic School obtained by data collection techniques through a survey approach. Based on data analysis using the Pearson correlation method, the results of the correlation test between spirituality and the 3 dimensions of the existential anxiety variable, namely the general existential anxiety dimension, the death anxiety dimension, and the avoidance dimension that there is no relationship between spirituality and existential anxiety in adolescents at SMAIT Alia Islamic School. This can be caused by the fact that the teenagers are still in the transition stage to adulthood and in the process of finding their identity, so they still cannot understand well what spirituality is deeper. Because spirituality needs deep meaning. Keywords : Spirituality, Existential Anxiety, Teenagers. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara spiritualitas dengan kecemasan eksistensial pada remaja di SMAIT Alia Islamic School. Karena pada sekolah tersebut ditemukan beberapa masalah mengenai kecemasan eksistensial pada remaja. Remaja yang mengalami kecemasan eksistensial cenderung merasa cemas akan keberadaannya yang sementara serta tidak memiliki arti yang jelas serta dapat mengatasinya dengan mendekatkan diri kepada Tuhan. Pada penelitian sebelumnya menjelaskan bahwa kecemasan seseorang dapat diatasi salah satunya apabila seseorang memiliki spiritualitas yang baik. Responden pada penelitian ini sebanyak 115 remaja yang bersekolah di SMAIT Alia Islamic School yang di dapat dengan teknik pengambilan data melalui pendekatan survey . Berdasarkan analisis data menggunakan metode korelasi pearson, didapati hasil dari uji korelasi antara spiritualitas dengan 3 dimensi variabel kecemasana eksistensial yaitu pada dimensi general existential anxiety, dimensi death anxiety, dan dimensi avoidance bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan antara spiritualitas dengan kecemasan eksistensial pada remaja di SMAIT Alia Islamic School. Hal ini bisa disebabkan karena para remaja tersebut masih dalam tahap peralihan ke masa dewasa dan dalam proses mencari jati dirinya, maka mereka masih belum bisa memahami dengan baik apa itu spiritualitas yang lebih mendalam. Karena spiritualitas butuh pemaknaan secara mendalam. Kata Kunci : Spiritualitas, Kecemasan Eksistensial, Remaja.
