Abstract
Die Casting is one of the machines used in the manufacture of motorcycle automotive components, in the manufacture of products using a die casting machine with aluminum raw materials, visual defects often occur, the high percentage of defects in the production process can result in decreased quality in the manufacture of a product, the average defect percentage value the die process is 6.24%. In improving the quality of the die casting process, this study uses the DMAIC concept approach (Define, Measure, Analysis, Improve, Control). Which in using this concept can help improve the process and can reduce the defect rate in die casting. From the initial identification, it is known that the type of cold shut defect dominates the defect rate with a percentage of 57.8%, an average DPMO value of 20,802 and a sigma value of 3.56. Based on the results of the analysis with the fishbone diagram, the main factors that influence cold shut defects come from the method and the human, standard operational procedures in machine maintenance need to be carried out more regularly, and it is necessary to train operators in the use of die casting machines to prevent high defects in the process. die casting. Keywords: Die Casting, Six Sigma, DMAIC Die Casting merupakan salah satu mesin yang digunakan dalam pembuatan komponen otomotif sepeda motor, dalam pembuatan produk menggunakan mesin die casting dengan bahan baku aluminum kerap terjadi cacat visual, tingginya persentase cacat proses produksi dapat mengakibatkan menurunnya kualitas dalam pembuatan suatu produk, rata rata nilai persentase cacat pada hasil proses die sebesar 6,24%. Dalam meningkatkan kualitas hasil proses die casting pada penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan konsep DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analysis, Improve, Control). Yang mana dalam menggunakan konsep tersebut dapat membantu memperbaiki proses dan dapat menurunkan tingkat cacat pada die casting. Dari identifikasi awal diketahui jenis cacat keriput mendominasi tingkat cacat dengan persentase sebesar 57,8%, rata-rata nilai DPMO 20.802 dan nilai sigma 3,56. Berdasarkan hasil analisa dengan fishbone diagram faktor utama yang memengaruhi keriput berasal dari metode dan menusia, standart operasional prosedur dalam perawatan mesin perlu lebih di jalankan secara berkala, serta perlu dilakukan training terhadap operator dalam penggunaan mesin die casting untuk mencegah terjadi cacat yang tinggi dalam proses die casting.
