Abstract

Abstract Some extraordinary challenges, such as zero-minus growth policy, unprecedented export growth, and the peak uncertainty of global political economy have put Indonesian Customs’ into the necessity of promoting employees’ employee extra-mile behaviors in dealing with either ones. One of the key roles enhancing employees’ extra mile behavior, or so-called, organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), is psychological ownership. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the influence of psychological ownership on organizational citizenship behavior in Indonesian Customs’ employees. Through cross-sectional strategy and selfselected sampling, a sample of 473 employees was analyzed using a simple linear regression method. The results confirmed that psychological ownership positively influenced organizational citizenship behavior. The more employees feel as if they own the organization, the more they engage in extra mile behavior. This finding provided primary evidence that the influence of psychological ownership on organizational citizenship behaviors also applied in one of Indonesian’s public sector organizations, Indonesian Customs. For the future research, taking another important variables into account is encouraged. Keywords: Psychological Ownership, Extra-Mile Behavior, Organizational Citizenship Behavior, Indonesian Customs Abstrak Beberapa tantangan luar biasa, seperti adanya kebijakan zero-minus growth, perkembangan volume ekspor yang sangat meningkat, dan situasi ekonomi politik global yang sedang tidak menentu membuat Direktorat Jenderal Bea dan Cukai (DJBC) Indonesia membutuhkan peningkatan perilaku ekstra pegawai yang tulus tanpa pamrih. Salah satu peran kunci yang dapat meningkatkan perilaku esktra pegawai, atau yang sering disebut dengan organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), adalah psychological ownership. Maka dari itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menguji pengaruh psychological ownership terhadap OCB pada para pegawai DJBC Indonesia. Melalui strategi cross-sectional dan self-selected sampling, didapatkan sebanyak 473 partisipan, yang selanjutnya dianalisis menggunakan metode simple linear regression. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa psychological ownership secara positif mempengaruhi OCB pegawai DJBC. Semakin pegawai merasa seolah-olah mereka memiliki organisasi, semakin mereka berkontibusi ekstra terhadap organisasi (OCB). Penelitian ini memberikan bukti empirik terbaru, yakni bahwa pengaruh psychological ownership terhadap OCB juga berlaku pada salah satu organisasi di sektor publik Indonesia, yaitu DJBC. Selain itu, disarankan untuk melibatkan variabel-variabel penting lainnya untuk kebutuhan penelitian selanjutnya.
