Abstract

Culture shock or known by other terms, namely: "Culture Shock" was originally proposed by an anthropologist Kalervo Oberg (1960) to define a deep and unpleasant reaction of sadness, dissatisfaction, and confusion experienced by someone who lives in a cultural context. new. One of the interesting miniseries to study culture shock is the miniseries entitled Emily In Paris. The data analysis method used in this research uses semiotic analysis. The type of analysis used is the semiotic method of Charles Sanders Pierce, who proposes a triangle theory of meaning which consists of three main components, namely signs, objects, and interpretations/interpretants. This research uses constructivism paradigm. Constructivism tries to investigate multiple facets and bring the researcher as close to the topic as possible. Document Analysis, the data collection technique carried out in this research is document analysis. The data analyzed is data from the documentation collected from data in the form of text in the mini-series "Emily In Paris" which consists of 10 episodes. From the results of the research above, there are several meanings of culture shock, culture shock is not only language differences. In the mini-series "Emily In Paris" there are many depictions of culture shock, from language to habits. Culture shock will definitely be experienced by everyone who goes to a different place from their country of origin, therefore to reduce this it is better to make preparations before going to a different place from the place of origin. Gegar budaya ataupun dikenal dengan istilah lain, yakni: "Culture Shock" pada awalnya diusulkan oleh seorang antropolog Kalervo Oberg (1960) agar mendefinisikan reaksi yang mendidalam serta tidak menyenangkan dari kesedihan, ketidak puasan, dan kebingungan yang dialami oleh seseorang yang hidup didalam konteks budaya baru. Salah satu miniseri yang menarik agar mempelajari gegar budaya ialah miniseri berjudul Emily In Paris. Metode analisis data yang dipergunakan didalam Riset ini mempergunakan analisis semiotika. Jenis analisis yang dipergunakan ialah metode semiotika Charles Sanders Pierce, yang mengajukan teori segitiga makna yang terdiri dari tiga komponen utama, yakni tanda, objek, dan penafsiran / interpretan. Riset ini mempergunakan paradigma konstruktivisme. Konstruktivisme mencoba agar menyelidiki beberapa segi dan membawa peneliti sedekat mungkin ke topik. Analisis Dokumen, teknik pengumpulan data yang dilaksanakan didalam Riset ini ialah analisis dokumen. Data yang dianalisis ialah data dari hasil dokumentasi yang dikumpulkan dari data berupa teks didalam mini seri “Emily In Paris” yang terdiri dari 10 episode. Dari hasil penelitan di atas terdapat beberapa pemaknaan dari gegar budaya, gegar budaya tidak hanya perbedaan bahasa saja dalam mini seri “Emily In Paris” banyak sekali penggambaran gegar budaya mulai dari bahasa hingga kebiasaan yang dilakukan. Gegar budaya pasti akan di alami semua orang yang pergi ke tempat yang berbeda dari negara asalnya, maka dari itu untuk mengurangi hal tersebut baiknya melakukan persiapan sebelum pergi ketempat yang berbeda dari tempat asal.
