Abstract
Freedom of shophouse façade development that does not always have a positive impression will potentially give a bad reputation to the region / city, where the reputation of the region / city is defined as an area with an average perception of the community. This is the reason why researcher try to find out how people's perception of the façade design of a shop series. The purpose of this study was to find the extent of the influence of shophouse façade design principles on public perception. The method to collect datas is done by visual documentation of a series of shop houses and give questionnaires to respondents. This research uses quantitative-descriptive analysis techniques. This study has the result that people's perceptions tend to react neutral to each shop façade design, but the public gives a low assessment of the harmonization of shop façade design with one another by stating that the row of shophouses seems a mess. Low ratings and messy impressions illustrate how the region's reputation in the eyes of the community. Keyword: Perception, façade, shophouse, design principle Kebebasan pengembangan fasade ruko yang tidak selalu berkesan positif akan berpotensi memberi citra buruk terhadap kawasan/kota, dimana citra kawasan/kota diartikan sebagai sebuah kawasan dengan rata-rata pandangan masyarakatnya. Hal ini yang mendasari peneliti untuk mencaritahu bagaimana persepsi masyarakat terhadap desain fasade sebuah deret ruko. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengaruh prinsip desain fasade ruko terhadap persepsi masyarakat. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara dokumentasi visual sebuah deret ruko dan penyebaran kuesioner. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis kuantitatif-deskriptif. Penelitian ini memiliki hasil yaitu persepsi masyarakat cenderung bereaksi netral terhadap masing-masing desain fasade ruko, namun masyarakat memberikan penilaian yang rendah terhadap harmonisasi desain fasade ruko satu dengan yang lainnya dengan menyatakan bahwa deret ruko terkesan berantakan. Penilaian yang rendah dan kesan berantakan memberi gambaran bagaiamana citra kawasan tersebut di mata masyarakat. Kata Kunci: Persepsi, fasade, ruko, prinsip desain
