Abstract

The development of the era is increasingly rapid, associations in a community are no longer face-to-face and know each other, we can be netted in one system in cyberspace. One of them is a community forum for body care products lovers, namely the Female Daily Network. The online forum contains many activities, especially the activity of reviewing body care products. But behind the name which says it is a women's daily network, uniquely there is a membership of the adam in it who is also active in every activity as a beauty enthusiast. This study aims to determine the motives of a male member to join a Female Daily community, explore the meaning contained in it by using a phenomenological research method with a qualitative-descriptive approach and a constructivist paradigm. The concept used in this study is the phenomenology of Alfred Schutz, with the research subject of 5 selected resource persons using purposive sampling technique. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews, non-participant observations and documentation. The results of this study resulted in 2 motives, namely, the joining motive and hoping motive, the meaning of community, the meaning of a man using skincare and also the communication experience for male members who join an online community of body care product lovers. Keywords: phenomenology, online community, beauty enthusiast. Perkembangan jaman semakin pesat, perkumpulan dalam sebuah komunitas kini tidak lagi melalui tatap muka dan saling kenal satu sama lain, kita dapat terjaring dalam satu sistem di dunia maya. Salah satunya ialah forum komunitas pecinta produk-produk perawatan tubuh yaitu Female Daily Network. Forum online tersebut berisi banyak aktivitas di dalamnya terutama aktivitas mereview produk perawatan tubuh. Namun dibalik namanya yang mengatakan sebagai jaringan harian wanita tersebut, uniknya terdapat keanggotaan kaum adam di dalamnya yang juga aktif dalam setiap aktivitas sebagai beauty enthusiast. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui motif seorang anggota member laki-laki bergabung dalam sebuah komunitas Female Daily, menggali makna yang terkandung di dalam nya dengan menggunakan metode penelitian fenomenologi dengan pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif dan paradigma Konstruktivistik. Konsep yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah fenomenologi Alfred Schutz, dengan subjek penelitian 5 orang narasumber terpilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi non-partisipan dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menghasilkan 2 motif yaitu, joining motive dan hoping motive, makna komunitas, makna seorang laki-laki yang menggunakan skincare dan juga pengalaman komunikasi bagi member laki-laki yang bergabung kedalam sebuah komunitas online pecinta produk perawatan tubuh. Kata Kunci: fenomenologi, komunitas online, beauty enthusiast.
