Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of Coping stress on veiled female students who experience social stigma at private university in jakarta. Respondents used were Moslem women aged 20-25 years who wore a veil more than a year. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research with a Phenomenological Approach with 4 samples. This study uses data collection techniques in the form of observation and interviews with interview guidelines. This study focuses on the description of coping stress by veiled female students to the social stigma they received. Coping stress in question is how the veiled student is trying to overcome the stress of the stigma received. Stress coping is done by means of problem focused coping and emotional focused coping. The results obtained from this study are that the veiled female student approaches the problem focused coping and emotional focused coping. Keywords: students, veil, social stigma, coping stress Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Gambaran Coping Stress pada Mahasiswi Bercadar yang Mengalami Stigma Sosial di Universitas Swasta Jakarta. Responden yang digunakan adalah wanita Muslimah berusia 20-25 tahun yang mengenakan cadar lebih dari setahun. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif tipe deskriptif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi dengan jumlah sampel 4 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi dan wawancara dengan pedoman wawancara. Penelitian ini berfokus kepada gambaran Coping stress yang dilakukan mahasiswi bercadar terhadap stigma sosial yang diterimanya. Coping stress yang dimaksudkan adalah bagaimana mahasiwi yang bercadar ini mencoba mengatasi stress atas stigma yang diterimanya. Coping stress dilakukan dengan cara problem focused coping dan emotional focused coping. Hasil Yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa mahasiswi bercadar tersebut melakukan pendekatan dengan cara problem focused coping dan emotional focused coping.
