Abstract

One means of meeting the needs of reading is to their libraries. In the educational environment in particular, the library is an important tool in need of the students so that they have the facilities to gain knowledge apart from what is conveyed by the teacher in the classroom. Given the importance of reading for the development of students, then it should every school has a library room is adequate, the rooms were comfortable, clean, collection of books are complete and well preserved, data collection is clear and excellent service so that students feel interested and feel comfortable in so the library is expected to spur their interest in reading books. The method used is 5S with the deployment of questionnaires to obtain real data which is then processed to obtain conclusions. From the results of questionnaires and the data processing can be concluded that there are still some schools that have not fully implemented the 5S method in meeting the criteria for excellent service in the school library. Keywords: 5S, SPSS, questionnaires, excellent service Salah satu sarana dalam memenuhi kebutuhan membaca adalah dengan adanya perpustakaan. Di lingkungan pendidikan khususnya, perpustakaan merupakan sarana penting yang di butuhkan para siswa agar mereka mempunyai fasilitas dalam mendapatkan ilmu selain dari apa yang di sampaikan oleh guru di kelas. Mengingat pentingnya peranan membaca bagi perkembangan siswa, maka sudah semestinya setiap sekolah memiliki ruang perpustakaan yang memadai, yaitu ruangan yang nyaman, bersih, koleksi buku yang lengkap dan terawat, pendataan yang jelas dan pelayanan yang prima agar para siswa merasa tertarik dan merasa nyaman berada di perpustakaan sehingga diharapkan bisa memacu minat mereka dalam membaca buku. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah 5S dengan penyebaran kuisoner untuk mendapatkan data real yang kemudian diolah untuk mendapatkan kesimpulan. Dari hasil penyebaran kuesioner dan hasil pengolahan data didapat kesimpulan bahwa masih ada beberapa sekolah yang belum sepenuhnya menerapkan metode 5S dalam memenuhi kriteria pelayanan prima di perpustakaan sekolah.
