Abstract
The study aims to solve the problem in reducing reject level using PDCA and 8 Steps Quality Improvement. The results shows that the most dominant reject flowmark. Root causes of this reject caused by limitation of training to operator, machine problem, no machine setting guidance and usage of more than one type of material. Base on the root causes then improvements that have been made are operator training, improved the machine, producing guidelines for setting the machine, and allocation of material every single type of material in a period of time. From the observation result showed that the production of O-Ring has a high defect rate which is 5.79% must be reworked, based on the data during August - December 2015. In October 2016 - March 2017 the improvement effort was done by using PDCA. The results of this improvement provide improved quality of the O-Ring so that the rework gradually decreases and eventually does not exist. There was a significant decrease in production cost by Rp. 274.315. 708,-. Keywords: PDCA, 8 Step Quality Improvement, Control Process and Reject Products. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memecahkan masalah dalam mengurangi tingkat menolak menggunakan PDCA dan 8 Langkah Peningkatan Mutu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa yang paling dominan cacat flowmark. Akar penyebab ini menolak disebabkan oleh keterbatasan pelatihan untuk operator, masalah mesin, tidak ada bimbingan pengaturan mesin dan penggunaan lebih dari satu jenis bahan. Berdasarkan akar penyebab maka perbaikan yang telah dibuat adalah pelatihan operator, meningkatkan mesin, pembuatan panduan pengaturan mesin, dan alokasi bahan setiap jenis tunggal materi dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Dari hasil pengamatan didapatkan petunjuk bahwa produksi sparepart O-Ring memiliki tingkat kecacatan yang besar dimana 5.79 % harus di-rework, berdasarkan data selama Agustus 2015 – Desember 2015. Pada bulan Oktober 2016 sampai Maret 2017 dilakukan upaya perbaikan dengan menggunakan pendekatan PDCA. Hasil dari perbaikan ini memberikan perbaikan mutu sparepart O-Ring sehingga secara berangsur rework semakin berkurang dan akhirnya tidak ada. Terjadi penurunan biaya produksi yang cukup signifikan sebesar Rp. 274.315. 708,- Kata Kunci : PDCA, 8 Langkah Perbaikan Kualitas, Proses Kontrol dan Produk Cacat.
