Abstract
PT XYZ is an industry located in Bekasi Regency in Indonesia. PT XYZ is a company engaged in the pharmaceutical industry that produces various kinds of medicines. The variety of products produced, then PT. XYZ requires a very good layout so that it runs smoothly in the quality control process so that it can produce quality products. Companies whose operational processes are oriented to a good work position (layout) in the process want high productivity with a minimum total production cost and effective and efficient implementation of work methods. This study aims to determine how big the role of facility layout design is in cutting the distance of document transfer and reducing document handling costs. The method used in this study is the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) approach, which compares the distance between documents and the proposed layout. The results of this study indicate that from the distance of the document trajectory in the Office QA area with the new layout changed to 2825 meters, with material handling costs per meter reduced from Rp. 13,262,170 to Rp 6.417.205 or reduced by 51.6%. Based on the results of the study, the proposed layout is considered more effective and efficient because it can reduce the distance of document transfer and reduce material handling costs in the quality control area. Keywords : Systematic Layout Planning, Layout PT XYZ merupakan industri yang berlokasi di Kabupaten Bekasi di Indonesia PT XYZ merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang industri farmasi yang memproduksi berbagai macam obat-obatan. Beragamnya produk yang diproduksi, maka PT. XYZ memerlukan tata letak yang sangat baik sehingga kelancaran didalam proses pengawasan mutu sehingga dapat menghasilkan produk yang bermutu. Perusahaan yang proses operasinya berorientasi dengan posisi kerja (tata letak) yang baik pada proses menginginkan produktivitas yang tinggi dengan total minimum biaya produksi dan implementasi metode kerja secara efektif dan efisien. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui seberapa besar peran perancangan tata letak fasilitas dalam memangkas jarak perpindahan dokumen dan menekan ongkos penanganan dokumen. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan Systematic Layout Planning (SLP), yaitu membandingkan jarak perpindahan dokumen antara layout awal dengan layout usulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dari jarak lintasan dokumen pada area Office QA dengan layout yang baru berubah menjadi 2.825 meter, dengan ongkos material handling per meter berkurang dari Rp13.262.170 menjadi Rp6.417.205 atau berkurang sebesar 51,6%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, layout usulan dinilai lebih efektif dan efisien karena dapat mengurangi jarak perpindahan dokumen dan menekan ongkos material handling pada area pengawasan mutu.
