Abstract

Every day consumer demand for the products produced is higher, therefore an increase in product quality is needed which will affect consumer satisfaction with the products purchased. PT. Mowilex Indonesia is a company engaged in manufacturing in producing various types of paint products. During paint production in February 2018 - January 2019 at PT. Mowilex Indonesia has a paint defect of 616,000 liters. With this defect, this study aims to determine the types of defects and the highest causes of defects that affect paint quality at PT. Mowilex Indonesia, and provide recommendations using the DMAIC method (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). Based on the results of the Pareto diagram it is known that viscosity is the highest type of defect with a percentage of 54% and excess water is the main cause based on the fish bone diagram, and FMEA. Then the recommendations obtained using the DMAIC method (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) are to rearrange the pump pressure so that it can be read by the flow meter and provide a tank capacity mark on the inside of the tank. Kata Kunci : DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), Quality, Pareto Diagram, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA, Product Defect Setiap harinya permintaan konsumen atas produk yang dihasilkan semakin tinggi, maka dari itu diperlukan peningkatan dalam hal kualitas produk yang akan mempengaruhi kepuasan konsumen terhadap produk yang dibeli. PT. Mowilex Indonesia merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang manufaktur dalam menghasilkan produk – produk berbagai jenis cat. Selama produksi cat bulan Februari 2018 – Januari 2019 di PT. Mowilex Indonesia terjadi defect cat sebanyak 616.000 Liter. Dengan adanya defect tersebut maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis defect dan penyebab defect tertinggi yang mempengaruhi kualitas cat di PT. Mowilex Indonesia, serta memberikan rekomendasi menggunakan metode DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). Berdasarkan hasil diagram pareto maka diketahui bahwa viscosity merupakan jenis defect tertinggi dengan persentase 54% dan air berlebih merupakan penyebab utamanya berdasarkan diagram tulang ikan, dan FMEA. Maka rekomendasi yang didapat menggunakan metode DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) adalah melakukan pengaturan ulang tekanan pompa agar dapat terbaca oleh flowmeter serta memberikan tanda kapasitas tangki pada bagian dalam tangki.
