Abstract

The Library is a means of supporting education on the one side as a preserver of knowledge and on the other side as a source of education that will be passed on to the younger generation. UNESCO said that Indonesia at the bottom of world literacy, it means Indonesian reading interest is very low. Most people thing a libraries as a boring place with a stacks of book that are monotonous, serious, and rigid. As the Capital of country, DKI Jakarta has the constructions of tall building like a malls, hotels, apartments, and other modern place like cafes, restaurants, sport facilities, recreation place, and other place that making the peoples especially teenagers accustomed to living in a modern lifestyle and making people consider old-fashioned and less interested to a place like libraries due to lack of modern facilities. Jakarta city is famous for hot temperatures and it takes almost everyday because of the loss of tree which are replaced by the tall building. Therefor, the purpose of this design is to preserve indonesia’s nature by designing interior designs that use eco-design concepts and attract the interest of people to visit modern-style libraries but do not eliminate natural preservation with environtmentally friendly facilities and furniture. The method that used is a Qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Keyword : Library, Jakarta, Modern, Eco-design. Perpustakaan adalah sarana penunjang pendidikan di satu pihak sebagai pelestari ilmu pengetahuan, dan dilain pihak sebagai sumber pendidikan yang akan diwariskan ke generasi yang lebih muda. UNESCO menyebutkan Indonesia urutan paling bawah soal literasi dunia, artinya minat baca masyarakat indonesia sangat rendah. Kebanyakan orang mengaggap perpustakaan adalah tempat yang membosankan dengan tumpukan buku yang monoton, serius, dan kaku. Sebagai Ibukota Negara, DKI Jakarta memiliki pembangunan gedung-gedung tinggi seperti mall, hotel, apartemen, dan tempat-tempat yang bergaya modern lainnya seperti cafe, Restaurant, sarana olahraga, hiburan, dan sebagainya sehingga membuat masyarakat terutama kaum remaja terbiasa hidup bergaya modern dan membuat masyarakat menganggap kuno dan kurang tertarik dengan tempat seperti Perpustakaan karena kurangnya fasilitas modern. Kota Jakarta terkenal dengan suhu panasnya yang cukup tinggi dan berlangsung hampir setiap hari karena hilangnya pohon-pohon yang tergantikan oleh gedung-gedung tinggi dan modern, oleh sebab itu tujuan dari perancangan ini adalah untuk melestarikan alam di Indonesia dengan merancang desain interior yang menggunakan konsep eco design dan menarik minat masyarakat untuk mengunjungi perpustakaan bergaya modern namun tidak menghilangkan kelestarian alam dengan fasilitas dan material furniture yang ramah lingkungan. Jenis metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Kata Kunci : Perpustakaan, Jakarta, Modern, Eco Desain
