Abstract
This research is a correlational study which aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of smartphone use and learning motivation. Respondents in this study were 159 STMIK X Tangerang students. In taking samples using saturated sampling technique with data collection methods in the form of a smartphone use intensity scale of 18 item with the results of the Cronbach’s alpha reliability test of 0.891 and the learning motivation scale there are 38 items with the results of the Cronbach’s alpha reliability test of 0.923. The result of this study is that there is a significant relationship between the intensity of smartphone use and learning motivation indicated by the value of r:-177 with a significance value of 0.026 (p≤0.05). So can be concluded that there is a negative relationship, which means that the higher the intensity of smartphone use, the level learning motivation decreases. Conversely, the more the level of learning motivation increases, the intensity of smartphone use decreases. Keywords: Intensity of smartphone use, Motivation to learn, College student Penelitian ini termasuk penelitian korelasional yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara intensitas penggunaan smartphone dengan motivasi belajar. Responden dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa STMIK X Tangerang sebanyak 159 orang responden. Dalam pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik sampling jenuh dengan metode pengumpulan data berupa skala intensitas penggunaan smartphone sebanyak 18 item dengan hasil uji reliabilitas cronbach’s alpha sebesar 0,891 dan skala motivasi belajar terdapat 38 item dengan hasil uji reliabilitas cronbach’s alpha sebesar 0,923. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antar variabel intensitas penggunaan smartphone dengan motivasi belajar ditunjukkan dengan nilai r: -.177 dengan nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,026 (p≤0.05). Sehingga dapat disimpulkan ada hubungan negatif yang artinya semakin tinggi intensitas penggunaan smartphone maka tingkat motivasi belajar menurun. Sebaliknya semakin tingkat motivasi belajar meningkat maka intensitas penggunaan smartphone menurun. Kata kunci: Intensitas penggunaan smartphone, Motivasi belajar, Mahasiswa
