Abstract

This study aims to obtain empirical evidence regarding the Effect of the effectiveness of the Board of Commissioners and Political Connections on Company Value. The samples used were 30 companies, namely manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the period 2015 - 2017. The effectiveness of the board of commissioners is measured by using the number of board of commissioners, independent commissioners obtained from the proportion of the number of independent commissioners divided by the number of board of commissioners, the activity of the board of commissioners as measured by meetings held by the board of commissioners, and the experience of the board of commissioners measured from the experience of the board of commissioners at appropriate fields. And political connections are measured using a dummy variable. Whereas Company Value is measured using the Tobins'Q ratio. The results of this study indicate that: (1) Political Connections have a significant positive effect on Company Value. (2) The effectiveness of the Board of Commissioners has a significant positive effect on Company Value. (3) The activities of the Board of Commissioners have a significant positive effect on Company Value. (4) The experience of the Board of Commissioners has a significant positive effect on Company Value. (5) Firm Size and Firm Age have a significant positive effect on Company Value. Keywords: Effectiveness of the Board of Commissioners, Political Connections and Company Values Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh bukti empiris mengenai Pengaruh efektifitas Dewan Komisaris dan Koneksi Politik terhadap Nilai Perusahaan. Sampel yang digunakan terdapat 30 Perusahaan yaitu perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) periode 2015 - 2017. Efektifitas dewan komisaris diukur dengan menggunakan jumlah dewan komisaris, komisaris independen yang diperoleh dari proporsi jumlah komisaris independen dibagi jumlah dewan komisaris, aktivitas dewan komisaris yang diukur oleh rapat-rapat yang diselenggarakan oleh dewan komisaris, dan pengalaman dewan komisaris yang diukur dari pengalaman dewan komisaris pada bidang yang sesuai. Serta koneksi politik yang diukur menggunakan variable dummy. Sedangkan Nilai Perusahaan diukur menggunakan rasio Tobins’Q. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa : (1) Koneksi Politik berpengaruh signifikan positif terhadap Nilai Perusahaan. (2) Efektifitas Dewan Komisaris berpengaruh signifikan positif terhadap Nilai Perusahaan. (3) Aktivitas Dewan Komisaris berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap Nilai Perusahaan. (4) Pengalaman Dewan Komisaris berpengaruh posistif signifikan terhadap Nilai Perusahaan. (5) Firm Size dan Firm Age berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap Nilai Perusahaan.
