Abstract
This study uncovering the discourse of power and political image of President Joko Widodo in the President's Corner Metro TV Television Program through ten news items, using qualitative content analysis methods. The analysis technique uses the CDA (Critical Discourse Analysis) version of the Teun A. Van Dijk model, namely analysis at three levels of research, namely text level analysis, analysis of social cognition, and analysis of social context. The results achieved in this study, first, that the discourse of power at the level of the text, social cognition and social context shows the efforts to control power from the government through the media. Second, that the discourse of President Joko Widodo's political image at the level of text, social cognition and social context shows that the positive image depicted through program impressions can help increase the image of President Joko Widodo, while from the media side with shows that are attractive to viewers will bring a rating advantage large so as to add to the selling value of the program, in this case the media economy plays a greater role. Keywords: News, Critical Discourse Analysis, Discourse of Power, and Political Image Dalam penelitian ini membongkar tentang wacana kekuasaan dan citra politik Presiden RI Joko Widodo dalam Program Televisi President’s Corner Metro TV melalui sepuluh berita, dengan menggunakan metode analisis isi (Content Analysis) kualitatif. Teknik analisis menggunakan teknik AWK (Analisis Wacana Kritis) versi model Teun A. Van Dijk yakni analisis pada tiga level penelitian, yakni analisis level teks (text analysis), analisis kognisi sosial, dan analisis konteks sosial. Hasil yang dicapai dalam penelitian ini, pertama, bahwa wacana kekuasaan pada level teks, kognisi sosial dan konteks sosial menunjukkan adanya upaya kontrol kekuasaan dari pemerintah melalui media. Kedua, bahwa wacana citra politik Presiden Joko Widodo level teks, kognisi sosial dan konteks sosial menunjukkan bahwa citra positif yang tergambarkan melalui tayangan program dapat ikut mendongkrak citra dari Presiden Joko Widodo, sedangkan dari sisi media dengan tayangan yang menarik bagi pemirsa akan mendatangkan keuntungan rating yang besar sehingga menambah nilai jual program tersebut, dalam hal ini ekonomi media lebih berperan besar.
