Abstract
In its development, the textile industry sector is much faster than other industrial sectors in Indonesia. This development can be seen from the quantity of textile industry built and the quality of technology used. Data at Zipper Companies Union (SPZ) in Indonesia with a total of 14 well-known companies throughout Indonesia over the period of 5 years March 2014 - March 2018, at least the total product defect rate averaged 4%, related to problems with product quality. The purpose of this research is to see how to reduce the level of product defects through the combined method of Quality Improvement Tool with DMAIC approach. There are process failures caused by not being in the middle, sensors are limited to overcoming certain areas instead of accurate SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) and errors when installing the machine in the assembly line. Therefore, improvements are made that can reduce the rate of defective products by 65% from an average of 4% to 1.4% in the installation process, as well as standard work, repair of flow charts and check sheets to overcome this problem to prevent recurrence.
