Abstract
The Ministry of Trade of Indonesia is a Government Agency in charge of trade affairs, which develops the mission of realizing Indonesia's economic competitiveness in the global market and the most responsible unit for the level of Indonesian trade. Therefore, the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia organizes the Trade Expo Indonesia event every year to increase Indonesian exports so that Indonesia's competitiveness becomes more developed and the economy can continue to increase. This study aims to determine the description of Media Relations Public Relations Activities of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia in the Trade Expo Indonesia 2016. The literature review used to support this thesis is aimed at the understanding of experts such as understanding communication, communication process, communication function and communication contexts, understanding and function of public relations, understanding, function and task of public relations, media relations covering understanding, goals, and activities, as well as understanding event and group events. In searching for the required data and information, the researcher uses a qualitative approach with descriptive method and through in-depth interviews with two internal parties of the Ministry of Trade and two external parties of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. Data analysis was done by describing media relation activity conducted by Ministry of Trade Public Relations in the Trade Expo Indonesia 2016. And the researcher chose the technique of data validity by using source triangulation. The research results of Media Relations Public Relations Activities of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia in the Trade Expo Indonesia 2016 show that the Public Relations of the Ministry of Trade has conducted various of media relations activities such as press conferences, media visit, press release, and facilitate interviews with ministers and Echelon I officials. Keyword : Media Relations Activities Kementerian Perdagangan RI merupakan Instansi Pemerintah yang membidangi urusan perdagangan, yang mengembangkan misi mewujudkan daya saing ekonomi Indonesia didalam pasar global dan unit yang paling bertanggung jawab atas tingkat perdagangan Indonesia. Oleh karena itu Kementerian Perdagangan RI menyelenggarakan event Trade Expo Indonesia setiap tahunnya untuk meningkatkan ekspor Indonesia sehingga daya saing Indonesia menjadi lebih berkembang dan perekonomian terus meningkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran mengenai Aktvitas Media Relations Humas Kementerian Perdagangan RI dalam Event Trade Expo Indonesia 2016. Tinjauan Pustaka yang digunakan untuk mendukung skripsi ini berpedopan pada pengertian para ahli diantaranya pengertian komunikasi, proses komunikasi, fungsi komunikasi dan konteks-konteks komunikasi, pengertian dan fungsi hubungan masyarakat, pengertian, fungsi dan tugas humas pemerintah, media relations yang mencangkup pengertian, aktivitas, tujuan, dan kegiatan, serta pengertian event dan kelompok event. Dalam mencari data dan informasi yang dibutuhkan peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan dua pihak internal Kementerian Perdagangan RI dan dua pihak eksternal Kementerian Perdagangan RI. Analisis data dilakukan dengan mendeskripsikan aktivitas media relation yang dilakukan Humas Kementerian Perdagangan RI dalam di Trade Expo Indonesia 2016. Dan peneliti memilih teknik keabsahan data dengan menggunakan trianggulasi sumber. Hasil penelitian Aktivitas Media Relations Humas Kementerian Perdagangan RI dalam Event Trade Expo Indonesia 2016 menunjukan bahwa humas Kementerian Perdagangan RI telah melakukan berbagai aktivitas media relations yaitu konferensi pers, media visit, press release, dan memfasilitasi wawancara dengan Menteri dan pejabat Eselon I.
