Abstract

The high maternal and child mortality rate in Indonesia remains a serious problem influenced by various medical and non-medical factors, including pregnancy and childbirth complications, premature birth, maternal comorbidities, delays in medical treatment, and limited healthcare facilities. Maternity and Children’s Hospitals (Rumah Sakit Ibu dan Anak/RSIA) play a strategic role in reducing these risks by providing integrated, safe, and responsive healthcare services for maternal and neonatal emergencies. This hospital design aims to create a healthcare facility that supports the safety of mothers and infants through efficient spatial planning, clear zoning between public, semi-private, and sterile areas, and functional proximity among critical spaces such as the emergency department, delivery rooms, operating theaters, and intensive care units. The design approach also considers psychological comfort, infection control, and family-centered care as essential components of the healing process. The proposed design is expected to result in a Maternity and Children’s Hospital that not only complies with healthcare standards and regulations but also provides a holistic, humane, and adaptive healing environment tailored to the needs of mothers and children in Indonesia, thereby contributing to the improvement of maternal and neonatal healthcare quality. Tingginya angka kematian ibu dan anak di Indonesia masih menjadi permasalahan serius yang dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, baik medis maupun non-medis, seperti komplikasi kehamilan dan persalinan, kelahiran prematur, penyakit penyerta pada ibu, keterlambatan penanganan, serta keterbatasan fasilitas pelayanan kesehatan. Rumah Sakit Ibu dan Anak (RSIA) memiliki peran strategis dalam menurunkan risiko tersebut melalui penyediaan layanan kesehatan yang terintegrasi, aman, dan responsif terhadap kondisi kegawatdaruratan maternal dan neonatal. Perancangan RSIA ini bertujuan untuk menciptakan fasilitas kesehatan yang mampu mendukung keselamatan ibu dan bayi melalui penataan ruang yang efisien, zonasi yang jelas antara area publik, semi privat, dan steril, serta kedekatan fungsi antar ruang kritis seperti IGD, ruang bersalin, ruang operasi, dan unit perawatan intensif. Pendekatan desain juga mempertimbangkan aspek kenyamanan psikologis, pengendalian infeksi, serta dukungan terhadap peran keluarga sebagai bagian dari proses perawatan. Hasil perancangan diharapkan mampu menghasilkan RSIA yang tidak hanya memenuhi standar dan regulasi pelayanan kesehatan, tetapi juga memberikan lingkungan penyembuhan yang holistik, humanis, dan adaptif terhadap kebutuhan ibu dan anak di Indonesia, sehingga dapat berkontribusi dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas pelayanan kesehatan maternal dan neonatal.
