Abstract

This research aims to examine and analyse the influence of the variables excessive social networking sites usage, materialism, and fear of missing out on compulsive buying among Generation Z users of marketplace platforms. The population used in this study consists of students from two provinces, namely DKI Jakarta and DI Yogyakarta. The sample in this study consists of students from two provinces, namely DKI Jakarta and DI Yogyakarta. with an age range of 17 – 23 years, marketplace platform users, totalling 207 respondents, calculated using G*Power version 3.1.9.4 software, with statistical parameters determined by Hair. The sampling method used in this study is non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. The data collection method in this study is using a survey method with data collection instruments through the distribution of questionnaires. The data analysis method used is Partial Least Square (PLS) with SMART PLS version 4.0 software. The results of this study indicate that excessive social networking sites usage has a positive and significant effect on compulsive buying among Generation Z users of marketplace platforms, materialism has a positive and significant effect on compulsive buying among Generation Z users of marketplace platforms, and fear of missing out has a positive and significant effect on compulsive buying among Generation Z users of marketplace platforms. Keywords : Excessive Social Networking Sites Usage, Materialism, Fear of Missing Out, Compulsive Buying, Generation Z Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dan menganalisis pengaruh dari variable Excessive social networking sites usage, materialism dan fear of missing out terhadap compulsive buying pada generasi Z pengguna marketplace platforms. Populasi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan mahasiswa/I di dua provinsi yaitu DKI Jakarta dan DI Yogyakarta. Sampel pada penelitian ini yaitu mahasiswa/I di dua provinsi yaitu DKI Jakarta dan DI Yogyakarta.dengan rentang usia 17 – 23 tahun pengguna marketplace platforms sebanyak 207 responden yang sudah di hitung menggunakan software G*Power versi 3.1.9.4. dengan menggunakan parameter statistic yang sudah ditentukan oleh Hair. Metode pengumpulan sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu dengan cara nonprobability sampling dengan teknik purposive sampling . Metode pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan metode survey dengan instrumen pengumpulan data melalui penyebaran kuesioner. Metode analisis data yang digunakan ialah Partial Least Square ( PLS ) dengan software SMART PLS versi 4.0. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Excessive social networking sites usage berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap compulsive buying pada generasi Z pengguna marketplace platforms, materialism berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap compulsive buying pada generasi Z pengguna marketplace platforms dan fear of missing out berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap compulsive buying pada generasi Z pengguna marketplace platforms.
