Abstract

The design project aims to develop badminton apparel for non-athlete women that provides comfort, flexibility of movement, and a feminine appearance to support recreational activities and light-to moderate-intensity training. The variables examined in this design include material selection, ventilation system, pattern construction, and the visual design of women’s sportwear. The method applied is a qualitative descriptive design-based approach, conducted through literature studies related to women’s sport apparel, analysis of badminton activity characteristics, and analysis of comparable products currently available in the market as design references. The design process focuses on women’sbody ergonomics, comfort during movement, and the balance between fuctional and aesthetic aspects. The design outcomes indicate that the use of lightweight, elastic, and moisture-absorbing materials, combined with the application of ventilation system in specific body areas, can enhance air circulation and user comfort during physical activity. In addition, the integration of an inner bra feature in the top is designed to support the chest area according to women’s ergonomic needs, thereby increasing a sense of security, stability, and comfort without restricting freedom of movement. The application of ergonomic pattern construction and visual design that considers the female body silhouette contributes to a feminine appearance without reducing the primary fuction of sportswear. The design output consists of women’sbadminton apparel sets comprising tops and bottoms, with two top variations featuring short and long sleeves, as well as short and long bottom options, designed to meet the needs of non-athlete women. The conclusion of this design indicates that the integration of fuctional, ergonomic, and aesthetic aspects in women’s badminton apparel can echance comfort, confidence, and the overall wuality of the sporting experience.
