Abstract

Long-distance land travel in Indonesia faces significant challenges related to driver fatigue, which is a major cause of traffic accidents. Logistics drivers, intercity bus drivers, and online transportation workers often rest in suboptimal conditions, such as cramped luggage compartments or non-ergonomic hammocks. This study aims to design the "On-the-go sleep pod," a portable and ergonomic rest facility to enhance the quality of rest for drivers within limited spaces and facilities. The design methodology focuses on ergonomics, portability, and user privacy. The product utilizes a tri-fold mechanism for easy storage within vehicle cabins and features a flexible head cover to minimize light and noise disturbances. Materials used include a combination of rebonded foam and high-density foam to provide optimal spinal support. The final design produced an "On-the-go sleep pod" prototype that is adaptive for use in semi-outdoor environments such as rest areas or prayer rooms. This design is expected to assist drivers in taking effective 15–30 minute power naps, thereby increasing alertness and reducing the risk of highway accidents. Keywords: Sleep Pod, Long-Distance Driver, Fatigue, Ergonomics, Portability Pengemudi logistik, bus antarkota, dan transportasi daring sering kali harus beristirahat dalam kondisi yang tidak ideal, seperti di ruang bagasi yang sempit atau menggunakan hammock yang tidak ergonomis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang On-the-go sleep pod, sebuah fasilitas istirahat portabel yang ergonomis untuk meningkatkan kualitas istirahat pengemudi dalam keterbatasan ruang dan fasilitas. Metodologi perancangan difokuskan pada aspek ergonomi, portabilitas, dan privasi pengguna. Produk ini menggunakan sistem lipat tri-fold untuk memudahkan penyimpanan di dalam kabin kendaraan serta dilengkapi dengan penutup bagian kepala fleksibel untuk meminimalkan gangguan cahaya dan suara. Material yang digunakan mencakup kombinasi busa rebonit dan high density foam untuk mendukung struktur tulang belakang secara optimal. Hasil perancangan menghasilkan purwarupa On-the-go sleep pod yang adaptif untuk penggunaan di lingkungan semi-outdoor seperti rest area atau musala. Desain ini diharapkan dapat membantu pengemudi melakukan power nap yang efektif selama 15–30 menit, sehingga mampu meningkatkan kewaspadaan dan menurunkan risiko kecelakaan di jalan raya.
