Abstract

This research is motivated by the rapid growth of digital entertainment content in the current era, one of which is the proliferation of unboxing content. This study focuses on analyzing followers' reception of the factualness of blindbox unboxing content on the TikTok account @asakecil. The aim of this research is to understand how active followers of Asakecil interpret the factualness of blindbox unboxing content on the TikTok account @asakecil. This study uses Stuart Hall's theory with reception analysis techniques and the encoding-decoding process, which divides the audience's positions into three: dominant-hegemonic, negotiated, and oppositional. This theory emphasizes that media messages are not always received in their entirety but are understood based on each individual's social, cultural, and experiential background. The study analyzes factual content theory by McQuail based on three aspects: accuracy, relevance, and informativeness. This type of research uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative research method. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews with five follower informants who actively accessed content on the TikTok account @asakecil. The informants were selected purposively to explore diverse perspectives on the factuality of blindbox unboxing content. The data analysis technique employed a reception analysis method and used source triangulation. The results of this study show that informants' reception is divided into three positions: some fully accept the content (dominant), some accept and reject it selectively (negotiated), and others reject the message entirely (oppositional). Factors influencing informants' perceptions include personal experience, social environment, and educational background. This study confirms that Asakecil followers are a critical audience when engaging with informative content in the digital media era. Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh pesatnya konten hiburan digital di era saat ini salah satunya maraknya konten unboxing . Penelitian ini berfokus bagaimana analisis resepsi pengikut terhadap faktualitas konten unboxing blindbox pada akun tiktok @asakecil. Dan Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana resepsi pengikut aktif Asakecil dalam memaknai faktualitas konten unboxing blindbox pada akun Tiktok @asakecil. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori dari Stuart Hall dengan teknik analisis resepsi serta proses encoding-decoding yang membagi posisi audiens menjadi tiga: dominan-hegemonik, negosiasi, dan oposisi. Teori ini menekankan bahwa pesan media tidak selalu diterima secara utuh, melainkan dipahami berdasarkan latar belakang sosial, budaya, dan pengalaman masing-masing individu. Penelitian ini menganalisis indikator konten faktual berdasarkan teori McQuail berdasarkan tiga aspek: kebenaran, relevansi, dan informatif. Jenis Penelitian ini menggunakan paradigma kontruktivisme dengan metode penelitian kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui wawancara mendalam dengan lima informan pengikut yang aktif mengakses konten pada akun tiktok @asakecil Informan dipilih secara purposive untuk menggali perspektif yang beragam terhadap faktualitas konten unboxing blindbox. Dengan teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis resepsi, dan menggunakan Triangulasi Sumber. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa resepsi informan terbagi dalam tiga posisi: sebagian menerima sepenuhnya isi konten (dominan), sebagian menerima dan menolak secara selektif (negosiasi), dan sebagian lainnya menolak pesan secara keseluruhan (oposisi). Faktor yang memengaruhi persepsi informan pengalaman pribadi, lingkungan sosial, dan latar pendidikan. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa pengikut Asakecil merupakan audiens kritis dalam menghadapi konten informatif di era media digital.
