Abstract

This study uses a qualitative approach with a reception analysis method based on Stuart Hall's theory. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with 5 informants from Gen Z who are followers of the @sabdabumi account, as well as through observation of content and user interactions in comments. Data analysis was carried out through three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that Gen Z's reception of @sabdabumi's social and cultural content is divided into three categories: dominant reading, where the informant fully understands and accepts the message; negotiated reading, when the informant agrees with part of the content but with adjustments to personal meaning; and oppositional reading, where there is rejection of the values or perspectives conveyed. This reception is influenced by each individual's. educational background, cultural experience, and media preferences. In conclusion, the TikTok account @sabdabumi has succeeded in becoming an alternative media in conveying social and cultural values to Gen Z, although interpretations of the message vary. This study shows the importance of delivering messages that are contextual and relevant to the characteristics of the younger generation in digital media. Keywords:TikTok, Gen Z, reception analysis, culture, social message, @sabdabumi Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana generasi Z (Gen Z) merespons dan menafsirkan pesan-pesan sosial dan budaya yang disampaikan melalui konten akun TikTok @sabdabumi. Akun tersebut dikenal secara konsisten mengangkat isu-isu kearifan lokal, pelestarian budaya, serta kritik sosial dalam bentuk video pendek yang komunikatif dan edukatif. Seiring dominasi Gen Z sebagai pengguna aktif TikTok, penting untuk mengkaji bagaimana kelompok ini memahami dan memaknai pesan yang disampaikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode analisis resepsi berdasarkan teori Stuart Hall. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan 5 informan dari kalangan Gen Z yang merupakan pengikut akun @sabdabumi, serta melalui observasi konten dan interaksi pengguna di komentar. Analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan utama: reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa resepsi Gen Z terhadap konten sosial dan budaya @sabdabumi terbagi ke dalam tiga kategori: dominant reading, di mana informan sepenuhnya memahami dan menerima pesan; negotiated reading, ketika informan menyetujui sebagian isi namun dengan penyesuaian makna pribadi; serta oppositional reading, di mana terdapat penolakan terhadap nilai atau sudut pandang yang disampaikan. Resepsi ini dipengaruhi oleh latar belakang pendidikan, pengalaman budaya, dan preferensi media masing-masing individu. Kesimpulannya, akun TikTok @sabdabumi berhasil menjadi salah satu media alternatif dalam menyampaikan nilai sosial dan budaya kepada Gen Z, meskipun interpretasi terhadap pesan bersifat beragam. Penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya penyampaian pesan yang kontekstual dan relevan dengan karakteristik generasi muda dalam media digital.
