Abstract
This study presents a technical assessment of the runway pavement thickness at Fatmawati Soekarno Airport, Bengkulu, to support its transformation into an international airport. The analysis compares the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) manual calculation method with the FAARFIELD software (version 2.1.1). The input data include existing and planned aircraft characteristics (Boeing 767- 300 and Airbus A330-300), subgrade CBR values, and annual departures. The results show a significant difference between the two methods: the manual FAA method produced a total pavement thickness of 96.52 cm, while FAARFIELD required only 73.41 cm, making it approximately 25% more efficient without compromising structural reliability. The Boeing 737-800 was identified as the design aircraft due to its dominant weight and frequency. Furthermore, runway extension to 2,750 meters is recommended to accommodate wide-body aircraft at full operational loads. Overall, the existing pavement structure is considered sufficient to support the airport’s transition to international status. Kajian ini membahas evaluasi teknis ketebalan perkerasan landas pacu (runway) Bandara Fatmawati Soekarno, Bengkulu, dalam rangka mendukung transformasi menjadi bandara internasional. Analisis dilakukan dengan membandingkan metode perhitungan manual Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) dan perangkat lunak FAARFIELD versi 2.1.1. Data yang digunakan mencakup karakteristik pesawat eksisting dan pesawat rencana (Boeing 767-300 dan Airbus A330-300), nilai CBR tanah dasar, serta frekuensi keberangkatan tahunan. Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara metode manual dan FAARFIELD. Metode manual menghasilkan total ketebalan perkerasan sebesar 96,52 cm, sedangkan FAARFIELD memberikan hasil 73,41 cm, atau sekitar 25% lebih efisien tanpa mengurangi keamanan struktur. Pesawat Boeing 737-800 ditetapkan sebagai pesawat rencana karena memiliki kombinasi berat dan frekuensi operasi tertinggi. Berdasarkan evaluasi panjang runway, disarankan perpanjangan hingga 2.750 meter agar mampu melayani pesawat berbadan lebar dengan beban penuh. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa struktur perkerasan eksisting telah mencukupi untuk mendukung transformasi Bandara Fatmawati Soekarno menjadi bandara internasional.
